Position Summary
The Electronic Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing ADTRAN production units at the component level. This role utilizes schematics, technical documentation, specialized test equipment, and established procedures to identify failures and restore products to required quality standards. The position supports manufacturing operations by ensuring product reliability, workmanship, and on-time production flow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) to the individual component level.
- Analyze failure data and diagnostic results to isolate faults and determine corrective actions.
- Utilize schematics, technical documentation, processes, and written/verbal instructions to perform repairs in accordance with ADTRAN procedures.
- Set up, operate, and verify functionality of electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Perform minor touch-ups and repairs on through-hole (PTH) and surface-mount technology (SMT) components as needed.
- Ensure workmanship, product quality, and adherence to established standards and procedures.
- Manage multiple assignments while recognizing and communicating deviations from accepted practices when necessary.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance to support production requirements and quality objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of quality, accuracy, and product verification goals.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate’s Degree in Applied Electronics or a related technical field; or equivalent military training/experience.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing component-level troubleshooting and debugging of digital electronic circuits.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electronic assemblies at the component level.
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical documentation.
- Experience using computer-based test equipment and bench-top equipment including:
- Digital Multimeters (DMMs)
- Oscilloscopes
- Frequency Generators
- Variable Power Supplies
- Experience removing and replacing PTH and SMT components.
- Ability to identify component and soldering defects and apply proper soldering, flux, and PCB cleaning techniques.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills required.
- SAP ERP experience preferred.

Must complete or be able to complete:

- IPC Certification
