At Maersk, we believe in the power of diversity, collaboration, and continuous learning and we work hard to ensure that the people in our organisation reflect and understand the customers we exist to serve.
With over 100,000 employees across 130 countries, we work together to shape the future of global trade and logistics.
Join us as we harness cutting-edge technologies and unlock opportunities on a global scale. Together, let's sail towards a brighter, more sustainable future with Maersk.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an Operational Excellence Manager to join the team charged with leading the deployment of Operational Excellence capabilities across the US Area.
The successful candidate will partner with Area leaders and colleagues in the deployment and adoption of The Maersk Way Operating System, helping build a culture of continuous improvement and developing the capability of teams to identify opportunities, remove inefficiencies, and implement sustainable solutions that improve customer experience, productivity, and overall business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the rollout and adoption of The Maersk Way Operating System across the US Area
- Coach leaders and colleagues to reach business goals using operational excellence methods
- Build capability through training sessions, tool deployment, and follow-up coaching to ensure the sustainability of improvements
- Lead or support A3 problem solving, Kaizen events and other Lean initiatives when needed
- Assess how well teams have adopted the system and where they need further development
- Partner with stakeholders to drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, and cost through the application of The Maersk Way (TMW)
- Report on rollout progress, improvement results and return on investment to stakeholders
We Are Looking For
- We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who care about helping others improve. If you meet most of these points, we encourage you to apply.
- 5+ years in a Lean or continuous improvement role, with Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience preferred. Knowledge of Maersk products or operations is a plus.
- A coach first: a proven record of getting results through others by teaching and mentoring leaders and frontline teams until they can use Lean tools on their own
- Confidence to step in and run a Kaizen or improvement event, and the judgment to know when to step back so teams own the result
- Experience leading Lean transformation and change management, solving complex problems step by step and linking improvements to measurable return on investment
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority
- Comfort with digital tools, including MS Office, Visio and AI tools, and good judgment about when direct observation and people's input matter more than automation
