Description

Amentum is seeking a Senior Director of Contracts to lead a high-performing contracts organization supporting strategic NASA and DoD programs within our Engineering & Technology business group. Reporting to the Vice President of Contracts, you will provide strategic leadership, ensure compliance, and drive excellence across the full contract lifecycle.

You will oversee complex federal contracts from proposal development through contract closeout, including negotiations, risk management, contract and subcontract administration, and regulatory compliance. Partnering closely with program management, finance, legal, procurement, and business development teams, you will help drive mission success, operational execution, and business growth across business lines.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for an experienced contracts professional who thrives in a fast-paced government contracting environment and is passionate about developing teams, influencing strategy, and delivering results.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the full contracts management life cycle of contracts with the federal government, prime contractors, or other customers.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing contracts and subcontracts team. Provide day-to-day leadership, establish priorities, manage workloads, and support the professional growth and performance of contracts personnel.

  • Establish and maintain effective contract compliance programs, internal controls, and governance frameworks across supported business lines.

  • Provide guidance and training to program, technical, and functional teams on contract terms, FAR/DFARS requirements, compliance, subcontractor flowdowns, and contractual obligations.

  • Supervise staff to provide adequate training and guidance, coordinate workloads, priorities, and schedules, and ensure the timely and effective completion of work. Monitor staff performance and support employee development.

  • Advise on complex solicitation requirements, pricing and subcontracting strategies, organizational conflicts of interest, intellectual property and data rights, Service Contract Labor Standards (SCLS), CMMC and cybersecurity requirements, export controls (ITAR/EAR), and small business subcontracting requirements.

  • Participate in capture strategy discussions, proposal reviews, and pursuit activities.

  • Interpret contract terms and conditions and provide strategic guidance to internal stakeholders on contractual matters, risk mitigation, and business objectives.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing and submission of contracts reports and deliverables.

  • Serve as a primary interface between Amentum and the Government Contracting Officers and other Customers for complex contractual, operational, or financial management issues and help develop and implement timely and actionable solutions.

  • Support ongoing integration efforts to include reviewing policies and procedures, training staff, fostering collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and identifying areas for improvement and efficiency.

  • Ensure standard contracts practices are utilized across the organization with a focus on continuous process improvement.

  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience in lieu of the degree.

  • 15 or more years of progressive government contract administration experience (additional education may be substituted for experience).

  • In-depth knowledge of NASA and DoD acquisition regulations and government contracting compliance requirements.

  • Strong understanding of all government contract types to include Cost Plus, Cost Plus LOE, Time and Materials (T&M), Firm Fixed Price (FFP), and Firm Fixed Price Level of Effort (FFP LOE).

  • Experience analyzing, formulating, and negotiating all types of contracts documents, including Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Teaming Agreements (TAs), Organizational Conflict of Interest (OCI) Mitigation Plans, and Change Proposals. Works closely with Legal to prepare and effectively resolve Requests for Equitable Adjustment (REAs), claims, and all other complex matters.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of staff, from administrators to executive leadership.

  • Strong analytical, communication, team building, leadership, and presentation skills and ability to remain organized with strong attention to detail as well as time management.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

  • Ability to travel to customer sites, corporate offices, and industry events, as required.
