Description
We are seeking an expert IT Lab Operator / System Administrator to support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of our physical lab environment. This role will focus on keeping lab systems scalable, reliable, secure, and available for engineering teams involved in research, quality assurance, verification, validation, and related activities.
You will work closely with the IT/Lab Manager, engineering teams, and internal collaborators to provision systems, solve infrastructure issues, maintain lab equipment, and support day-to-day lab operations. What you'll be doing:
Support daily operations of the engineering lab and IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking equipment, and related services
Monitor server, network, and storage systems, respond to alerts, and assist with incident resolution
Investigate and resolve infrastructure issues across operating systems, networking, storage, virtualization, and application layers
Assist with automation of system provisioning, configuration, and operational tasks using tools including shell scripting, Perl, Python, or Ansible
Work with vendors and internal teams on hardware support, RMAs, deliveries, and technical follow-up
Collaborate with distributed engineering and IT teams to ensure reliable lab services and timely support
What we need to see:
B.Sc. or BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience in practice
5+ years of hands-on experience in IT / systems administration and handling infrastructure in a lab environment or data-center facilities
Strong Linux/Unix system administration skills, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
Hands-on experience with physical lab or data-center environments, including servers, networking equipment, cabling, and hardware lifecycle
Experience with monitoring tools and responding to infrastructure alerts
Scripting or automation experience using shell, Perl, Python, Ansible, or similar tools
Strong solving skills along with proficiency in investigating technical issues independently
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
Experience with Kubernetes in on-prem or hybrid environments
Practical experience working with Slurm, HPC clusters, or large-scale compute environments
Background supporting performance-sensitive engineering labs or large Linux clusters
Background with storage systems, virtualization platforms, or advanced networking
Experience working in global or distributed IT/lab environments
