Who we’re looking for
Operational Risk Management (ORM) is the foundation of operational excellence. Reporting to the Operational Controls Manager, the Risk and Controls Analyst is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of Toyota Financial Savings Bank’s (TFSB) operational controls within the First Line of Defense.
This position supports TFSB Operational Control management and executives to perform key risk and control activities, including Risk and Control Self-Assessments RCSA, process flow documentation, issue tracking, and control remediation efforts. This role will develop test scripts, conduct control testing, identify deficiencies, and collaborate with business leaders, control owners, compliance, enterprise risk, internal audit, and key stakeholders to design and implement corrective action plans to strengthen TFSB’s control environment. In addition to proactive control testing, this role will regularly monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPI’s) and support regulatory exams and audit inquiries.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of banking operations, controls, risk frameworks, and regulatory requirements. They are collaborative, detailed, and action-oriented; they have the ability to practice sound judgment, create clear action plans, and take a proactive approach to strengthening TFSB’s control environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Control Testing Design: Create clear and repeatable control testing scripts and scorecards for assigned areas, ensuring compliance with regulatory and operational risk and controls standards.
- Control Testing Execution: Evaluate control design and operating effectiveness across assigned operational business processes.
- Control Testing Reporting & Remediation Planning: Document and evaluate control testing results, identify exceptions, and communicate testing outcomes to TFSB management and control owners. Recommend enhancements to control design based on findings and partner with TFSB management to ensure remediation plans are developed, implemented, and validated through control testing.
- Risk & Control Program Management: Support the Operational Controls Manager to manage TFSB’s first line of defense Risk and Controls program, including Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), process flow development/maintenance, and risk and control matrix (RACM).
- Control Testing Strategy: Collaborate with the Operational Controls Manager to develop test plans for prioritized operational controls and operational areas.
- Reporting: Accurately track key performance metrics and assist in operational reporting for senior management, internal audit, and regulatory bodies.
- Kaizen: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the Risk and Control program’s processes, standards, procedures, controls, tools, and related materials.
- Maintain relationships with internal and external business partners, risk and compliance stakeholders, and audit teams to meet business needs.
- Stay informed on regulatory changes and current compliance and risk issues facing the banking industry.
- Serve as a champion of Operational Excellence within the bank.
- Contribute to effective reporting and communication of department routines to achieve enterprise understanding of key issues and resolutions.
- Support/Lead projects within TFSB Operations as needed.
What you bring
- BA/BS degree
- 2+ years of working with lending and deposit products in bank operations and/or with risk and compliance controls
- Proven experience independently assessing, documenting, and improving processes
- Experience with Lucid, Visio, or other process mapping tools
- Excellent organizational, communication, documentation, and project management skills
- Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and/or Power BI
- Self-starter with the ability to challenge and influence others, build trusted relationships, deal constructively with conflict, problem solver, and adapt to a fast-paced environment
