Anglicare is seeking an accomplished property development leader to join our Seniors Communities team as Portfolio Development Manager – Vertical Villages. This critical role will lead a portfolio of complex high-density residential, mixed-use, seniors living, affordable housing and social housing developments from acquisition through to completion and operational handover.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping communities, optimising investment outcomes and delivering high-quality housing solutions that improve lives, while balancing commercial performance with meaningful social impact.
Your opportunity
Reporting to the senior leadership team, the Portfolio Development Manager – Vertical Villages is responsible for leading multiple developments concurrently across the full project lifecycle, including acquisition, feasibility, planning approvals, design, procurement, construction delivery and operational handover.
You will provide strategic leadership and commercial oversight across a portfolio of significant projects, ensuring financial, programme, quality, sustainability and community objectives are achieved. Working closely with executive leaders, government stakeholders, consultants and delivery partners, you'll help create vibrant, sustainable communities that support residents today and into the future.
With integrity and resilience, you will:
- Lead the delivery of multiple complex development projects across all stages of the development lifecycle.
- Drive feasibility modelling, investment analysis and commercial decision-making to maximise value and outcomes.
- Develop and execute project strategies that align with organisational goals and community needs.
- Build strong relationships with government agencies, councils, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Lead procurement, tendering and contract management processes across development projects.
- Oversee governance, risk management and compliance to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Champion sustainability, accessibility and best-practice design principles across developments.
- Mentor and develop development professionals while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
What you'll bring
You are an experienced and commercially astute development leader with a strong track record managing large-scale residential, mixed-use or master-planned developments. You combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery expertise and are confident leading complex projects through every stage of the development lifecycle.
You bring exceptional financial and commercial capability, including advanced feasibility modelling, investment assessment, value optimisation and risk management. Your ability to balance long-term strategic outcomes with day-to-day project delivery enables you to drive successful developments while maintaining strong governance and financial performance.
You are a highly credible stakeholder manager and communicator who can build trusted relationships, influence decision-making and negotiate positive outcomes across diverse stakeholders. Most importantly, you are motivated by the opportunity to deliver projects that create meaningful social value and strengthen communities.
What's required
- Degree qualification in Property, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience leading complex high rise residential, mixed-use, seniors living or master-planned developments.
- Advanced capability in feasibility analysis, financial modelling, investment assessment and commercial decision-making.
- Strong experience in procurement, contract administration and construction delivery.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple complex projects concurrently.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
