Job Summary:
Our Mechanical Technicians work to provide a clean, healthy, safe, and well-maintained environment for conference center guests through preventative maintenance and repair of boilers, hot water systems, mechanical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical systems. Technicians are cross trained; however, not all skills require experience. This role supports Ridgecrest’s mission of impacting lives for God’s glory through purposeful hospitality.

Primary Experience Needed For This Role: HVAC
Schedule: Night and weekend shift on a scheduled rotation (generally once every 6 to 8 weeks). In addition, in the event of an emergency, a call back may be required.
Requirements
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and replacement of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and environmental control systems with limited supervision.
- Operate and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, and energy management systems to support proper indoor air quality, temperature, efficiency, and comfort.
- Use diagnostic tools, schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to identify and resolve routine and moderately complex system and equipment issues.
- Test and inspect newly installed or repaired systems to ensure proper operation, efficiency, and compliance with manufacturer specifications and applicable codes.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and accurately document repairs, inspections, equipment conditions, and work performed.
- Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and supplies in a clean, safe, organized, and operational condition.
- Identify issues requiring additional expertise, replacement, or outside service and communicate recommendations to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with planning and coordinating maintenance projects, including tasks, materials, resources, and timelines.
- Provide guidance and assistance to Technician 1 team members and other team members as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, taking appropriate action to protect people, property, equipment, and the guest experience.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments regarding maintenance needs, work status, equipment issues, and potential impacts to guests or operations.
- Perform all work safely and in accordance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, manufacturer specifications, and Ridgecrest standards.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Technical training or coursework in HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical systems, energy management, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Two or more years of experience in HVAC, maintenance, mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, facilities, or a related field, with demonstrated ability to independently perform routine maintenance and repairs. Hospitality, conference center, commercial, or similar facility experience preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
Working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, energy management, electrical and electronic systems, and applicable building, electrical, fire, and local codes. Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints; use diagnostic tools; troubleshoot equipment; organize multiple projects; and communicate effectively.
Abilities:
Ability to independently diagnose and resolve routine and moderately complex issues; prioritize competing demands; provide guidance to less-experienced team members; make sound decisions; adapt to unexpected challenges; demonstrate integrity and a strong work ethic; and understand how maintenance work impacts the guest experience.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- EPA certification to reclaim and recycle CFC and HCFC refrigerants, or obtain certification within 12 months of entering the position.
- Valid driver's license.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, and maneuver around equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding and work safely at varying heights.
- Manual dexterity to use tools and perform detailed repairs.
- Ability to work extended hours and perform continuous physical tasks as needed.
- Ability to work safely indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
