Indirect Tax Specialist
We are looking for a detail-oriented, methodical, and motivated Indirect Tax Specialist to join our Global Tax team. In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple countries, ensuring indirect tax compliance, supporting financial processes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of tax-related practices. What you will bring
- Precision in VAT Reporting: Accurately calculate and submit VAT-related reports, including periodical VAT returns, EC Sales List, SAF-T, Intrastat returns and refund claims. Ensure timely payment of tax liabilities and monitor VAT refunds
- Collaborative Advisory: Assist senior team members in providing indirect tax advisory services for new business arrangements
- In-Depth Tax Research: Conduct thorough tax research and collaborate with external tax advisors to stay ahead of the curve
- Audit Preparation: Prepare and coordinate data and documentation for VAT audits, working closely with tax advisors, local/regional finance teams and tax authorities
- Stay Updated: Monitor and implement changes in tax laws applicable to VELUX, ensuring compliance and strategic advantage
- Account Reconciliation: Perform VAT account reconciliations, clearings, repostings, and manage outstanding VAT balances
- Support and Compliance: Assist accounting departments in determining proper VAT coding and treatment for transactions. Ensure invoices comply with VAT laws
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes. Prepare, review, and maintain process documentation
- Versatile Tasks: Handle other tasks as needed and based on individual agreements
What we are looking for
- Experience: Minimum of 3-4 years in a similar role focused on VAT and indirect tax
- Practical Experience: Practical experience with indirect taxes, preferably gained in international or audit firms
- Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of European tax regulations
- Tax Authority Interaction: Demonstrated experience in handling queries and inspections from tax authorities
- Language Proficiency: Highly proficient in English
- Technical Skills: Proficient in SAP and advanced MS Excel skills
- Attention to Detail: Highly structured and detail-oriented
- Problem-Solving: Well-developed structured and problem-solving abilities
- Team Spirit: Positive, collaborative mindset with a great sense of teamwork
