Director of Employer & Payor Relations
Locations: Tyler, Longview & Galveston, Texas
Travel: Approximately 25–35% regional travel
Compensation: Base salary + quarterly performance incentives
Position Type: Full-Time
Relationships Matter. Advocacy Makes a Difference.
At Hospitality Health ER (HHER), we believe exceptional healthcare extends beyond the walls of our emergency rooms. It includes the relationships we build, the trust we earn, and the way we advocate for patients, employers, and the communities we serve.
We're seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Director of Employer & Payor Relations to help bridge the gap between emergency healthcare, employer-sponsored benefits, and insurance networks.
This is not a traditional marketing position.
It's an opportunity for a strategic relationship builder who understands the complexities of healthcare reimbursement, thrives in challenging conversations, and knows how to transform obstacles into opportunities.
The right person will combine executive-level communication skills, healthcare financial literacy, and a genuine passion for helping people navigate an increasingly complicated healthcare system.
The Opportunity
As Director of Employer & Payor Relations, you will serve as a trusted resource and strategic partner to corporate HR leaders, benefits administrators, insurance brokers, third-party administrators (TPAs), and regional employers.
You'll work closely with leadership to strengthen existing relationships, resolve complex billing concerns, communicate the value of our emergency care model, and advance meaningful conversations about insurance network accessibility.
Beyond resolving immediate concerns, you'll help build a collaborative network of employers, benefits professionals, and community stakeholders who recognize the value of accessible, efficient emergency healthcare.
Your mission: Build trust. Create solutions. Strengthen partnerships. Expand access.
What You'll Do
Champion Employer & Benefits Relationships
- Serve as a primary relationship contact for employer groups, HR executives, benefits directors, brokers, and TPAs across HHER's markets.
- Build trusted partnerships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and thoughtful problem-solving.
- Navigate sensitive employer concerns involving emergency care billing, insurance coverage, and employee experiences with professionalism and discretion.
- Coordinate timely resolutions with internal stakeholders while maintaining transparency and accountability.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships and restore confidence when challenges arise.
Advance Payor Relations & Network Accessibility
- Develop relationships with self-funded employers, benefits consultants, brokers, and plan administrators to advocate for improved access to HHER's emergency services.
- Educate employer groups on network participation, emergency care coverage, and potential opportunities for direct-to-employer partnerships.
- Support employer-led requests for network expansion and facilitate conversations with insurance carriers and TPAs.
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives designed to expand in-network accessibility and reduce unnecessary barriers for patients.
- Help cultivate a coalition of employers and benefits stakeholders committed to improving healthcare access in their communities.
Navigate Complex Healthcare Billing Challenges
- Partner with revenue cycle and billing leadership to investigate escalated employer and patient concerns.
- Help stakeholders understand explanations of benefits (EOBs), claim adjudication, reimbursement processes, and coverage considerations.
- Coordinate appropriate internal reviews and facilitate timely, accurate communication regarding billing disputes.
- Apply working knowledge of healthcare reimbursement practices, ERISA, the No Surprises Act, and applicable insurance regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure all communications and resolutions align with established policies and regulatory requirements.
Translate Data Into Meaningful Business Value
- Analyze employer utilization trends, emergency care encounters, claims information, and relevant financial metrics.
- Develop compelling presentations demonstrating HHER's value to employer-sponsored health plans.
- Collaborate with leadership to evaluate opportunities for cost efficiencies, improved care navigation, and reduced avoidable healthcare expenditures.
- Communicate complex healthcare and financial information in a clear, accessible, and persuasive manner.
- Use data-driven insights to strengthen employer relationships and support strategic network discussions.
Drive Strategic Growth & Accountability
- Establish and maintain meaningful engagement with employers, brokers, and benefits professionals throughout the Tyler, Longview, and Galveston markets.
- Develop a consistent communication and relationship management strategy across all HHER locations.
- Monitor employer satisfaction, escalated issue resolution, partnership development, and network advocacy initiatives.
- Maintain accurate relationship documentation, activity reporting, and progress toward established performance objectives.
- Partner with executive leadership to identify emerging opportunities, address barriers, and advance long-term organizational goals.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, payor relations, employer benefits, TPA account management, insurance brokerage, healthcare contracting, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated success managing professional relationships with employers, executives, benefits administrators, or healthcare stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of employer-sponsored health plans, insurance reimbursement, claims processes, or healthcare financial operations.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to navigate complex and sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.
- Strong analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and business presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while collaborating across departments.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout HHER's Texas markets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with self-funded employer health plans, TPAs, or employee benefits brokerage firms.
- Familiarity with emergency department billing, out-of-network reimbursement, and healthcare claims adjudication.
- Working knowledge of ERISA, the No Surprises Act, independent dispute resolution (IDR), and applicable Texas insurance regulations.
- Experience supporting healthcare network development, employer contracting, or direct-to-employer arrangements.
- Established professional relationships within the East Texas or Gulf Coast employer and benefits communities.
- Experience presenting healthcare financial data or strategic recommendations to executive audiences.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role isn't measured simply by the number of meetings held or relationships established. It's measured by the trust you build, the problems you solve, and the progress you create.
You'll make a meaningful impact by:
- Strengthening employer relationships through timely, thoughtful resolution of complex concerns.
- Improving communication and collaboration between employers, benefits professionals, and HHER's revenue cycle teams.
- Expanding engagement with regional HR leaders, benefits brokers, and TPAs.
- Advancing qualified opportunities for employer-supported network participation and direct-to-employer agreements.
- Delivering measurable progress toward strategic relationship and business development objectives.
Quarterly performance incentives will be tied to established goals involving relationship management, issue resolution, strategic engagement, and partnership development.
The Person We're Looking For
You're equal parts relationship builder, strategic thinker, and problem-solver.
You know how to listen when someone is frustrated, ask the right questions, and bring the right people together to find a solution.
You're comfortable discussing complex healthcare financial matters with an experienced benefits executive, but you never lose sight of the individual patient behind the claim.
You understand that credibility is earned through follow-through, transparency, and consistency.
Most importantly, you recognize that the strongest partnerships aren't built by avoiding difficult conversations. They're built by navigating those conversations with confidence, compassion, and integrity.
If you're ready to make a meaningful impact at the intersection of healthcare, employer benefits, and community relationships, we'd love to meet you.
