About Waythrough

Waythrough was formed in 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Together, we’ve created one of the largest mental health and social support charities in England.

Every year, we support around 125,000 people through nearly 200 services – and it’s all made possible by our 3,500 brilliant staff and volunteers.

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the Role

Our Windsor Road service is a CQC-registered residential care home offering 11 beds for people experiencing mental ill health. We provide one-to-one support and group interventions focused on personal growth, wellbeing, and independent living. Our programmes include sessions on topics such as social anxiety, confidence building, budgeting, sleep hygiene, resilience, and stress management.

We also run a range of engaging activities — from coffee mornings, community gardening, cooking, and arts and crafts to social inclusion days and family events — helping residents build connections and thrive in a supportive environment.

As a Recovery Worker, you’ll play a key role in supporting residents to develop the skills and confidence they need to live more independently and reach their personal recovery goals.

This is a rewarding and varied role where you’ll have every opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives while working in a supportive, professional, and values-driven environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and deliver person-centred support plans as part of your key worker role.

  • Support residents with daily living skills such as shopping, cleaning, and personal care where needed.

  • Deliver one-to-one sessions and group interventions around wellbeing, life skills, and mental health recovery.

  • Promote independence, inclusion, and empowerment through creative and compassionate support.

  • Liaise with external professionals and care teams, maintaining positive working relationships.

  • Ensure accurate record keeping and documentation on our information management systems.

  • Administer medication (training and qualification provided).

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need to be:

Caring, flexible, and creative - someone who thrives under pressure and enjoys helping others to achieve independence. You know how to connect with people at all levels and bring empathy, patience, and enthusiasm to your work.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in mental health, social care, or care home settings (preferred but not essential)

  • Is comfortable providing personal care and daily living support when required

  • Has good communication, teamwork, and record-keeping skills

  • Is able to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Is willing to complete the Care Certificate and a medication qualification

  • Is flexible to work as part of a weekly rota, including on-call duties

  • Is available to complete sleep-in shifts (no more than two per week)

  • Applicants with lived experience of mental health challenges are warmly encouraged to apply.

  • Life assurance (3× annual salary)

  • Enhanced sick pay and family-friendly pay

  • Birthday leave and the option to buy up to 5 extra days’ annual leave

  • Professional fee reimbursement for relevant qualifications

  • 24/7 online GP access and Employee Assistance Programme
