Description
This is one of three newly created HR Business Partner opportunities within our evolving HR team. We are also recruiting HR Business Partners to support our Finance & IT and Corporate & Commercial functions. Key Responsibilities
- Act as the dedicated HR Business Partner for the Assets & Infrastructure portfolio, building trusted relationships with operational leaders and managers
- Partner with leaders to develop and deliver people plans aligned to business objectives and the People Strategy
- Provide strategic advice and constructive challenge to improve organisational effectiveness, workforce planning and operational performance
- Identify people-related risks, trends and opportunities, recommending practical and commercially focused solutions
- Interpret workforce analytics and people insights to influence decision-making and improve organisational performance
- Support workforce planning, organisational effectiveness and capability development across the operational business
- Build strong relationships with operational leadership teams through regular site visits and visible HR support, ensuring a thorough understanding of business challenges and priorities.
- Partner with leaders to attract, develop and retain talented colleagues across operational teams
- Lead talent reviews and succession planning activities for key operational roles
- Work with the Talent & Development team to deliver leadership development and organisational capability initiatives
- Support performance and development processes, ensuring a clear link between performance, capability and career progression
- Promote a high-performance culture through effective performance management, accountability and continuous development
- Coach frontline managers to strengthen people management capability and leadership effectiveness, improving confidence in managing operational teams.
- Coach leaders to strengthen people management capability and leadership effectiveness
- Support leaders to build engaged, high-performing teams and deliver local engagement action plans
- Champion a positive employee experience through consistent application of people policies and practices
- Support organisational change, restructures and transformation programmes
- Partner with the SHEQ team and operational leaders to support health, safety and wellbeing initiatives, ensuring people considerations are embedded into operational improvement projects
- Promote a positive employee relations culture that supports engagement, wellbeing and safe ways of working across operational sites.
- Lead a medium volume of complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management and performance cases
- Provide expert advice on employment legislation, company policy and HR best practice
- Ensure employee relations matters are managed fairly, consistently and in line with legal requirements
- Provide guidance to HR Services on escalated employee relations matters where appropriate
- Partner with leaders to proactively manage employee relations risks and build management capability through coaching and practical support
- Develop effective working relationships with recognised trade unions and employee representatives, supporting consultation processes and contributing to collective negotiations where required.
- Partner with HR Services and Centres of Expertise to deliver integrated people solutions
- Implement and embed Group-wide people initiatives across supported business areas
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, policies and ways of working
- Use workforce data, employee feedback and business insights to improve organisational effectiveness and the employee experience
- Work collaboratively with the SHEQ team and operational leaders to support initiatives that strengthen organisational performance, employee wellbeing and Greenergy's positive safety culture.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- CIPD Level 7 qualification, or working towards, is desirable
- Proven experience operating as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Generalist within a commercially focused organisation
- Significant experience managing medium-volume, complex employee relations matters within an operational environment
- Experience partnering with operational leaders to develop and deliver people plans that support business performance and operational objectives
- Experience supporting organisational change, restructures and transformation programmes
- Experience interpreting and analysing complex people, workforce and business data to identify trends, generate meaningful insights and make evidence-based recommendations that support business performance and strategic decision-making
- Experience supporting operational, manufacturing, engineering, infrastructure, logistics, energy or industrial workforces
- Experience working with recognised trade unions, including supporting consultation processes and collective negotiation
- Experience partnering with operational functions to support health, safety and wellbeing initiatives, ideally working alongside SHEQ or equivalent teams
- Experience working within a business partnering model alongside HR Services and Centres of Expertise
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
- Experience using Workday or a similar HR information system is desirable.
- Stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to quickly establish credibility with operational leaders, site-based managers and frontline teams
- Ability to influence, coach and constructively challenge leaders at all levels to drive effective people management and business performance
- Commercially aware with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and an understanding of the challenges within operational and industrial environments
- Strong coaching capability with the ability to build leadership confidence and people management capability across operational teams
- Ability to balance strategic business partnering with a visible, hands-on approach across multiple operational sites
- Advanced analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex people and business data, identify trends, evaluate risks and opportunities, and translate insights into practical recommendations that improve organisational performance
- Confident managing competing priorities and making sound decisions within a fast-paced operational environment
- Excellent communication, facilitation and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive matters
- Resilient, adaptable and comfortable working across multiple operational locations with regular travel
