Who Are We
Warner Bros. Discovery’s Enterprise Data, AI & Strategy (EDAIS), part of the Technology and Operations organization, powers the company’s global data ecosystem — enabling analytics, automation, and AI through scalable, modern data platforms. Within EDAIS, the Data Platforms & Engineering team designs and operates the backbone that makes enterprise data accessible, reliable, and production ready. Our mission is to build cloud-first, high-performance data platforms that accelerate analytics and decision-making across all WBD business domains, from content and distribution to marketing and finance. Alongside great products and some of the best content in the world, we have built a great team and culture: our engineers are among the most talented in the industry and are excited to mentor and learn from fresh talent.
Your New Role
The Data Platforms & Engineering Internship Program offers a 6-month immersive experience for students passionate about building and scaling data systems. You will work closely with our engineering teams to design data pipelines, integrate data sources, and automate the workflows that fuel Warner Bros. Discovery’s analytics and digital transformation initiatives — real engineering projects built on the cloud technologies, data frameworks, and automation tools used in enterprise grade environments. We are looking for engineering-focused, detail-oriented problem solvers who enjoy understanding how data flows through systems, with a strong engineering mindset, a passion for automation, and an interest in designing scalable data solutions; if you love coding, debugging, and optimizing data workflows, this internship is for you. Across the six months you will be mentored by senior data engineers and solution architects, learn from WBD’s global technology leaders through our Tech Speaker Series, contribute to cross-regional initiatives across brands and functions, and build your network through structured intern events.
In this role, you will:
• Design, build, and implement scalable ETL/ELT processes and transformation pipelines from structured and unstructured sources using Python, PySpark, or SQL.
• Work on data lake and warehouse environments (AWS S3, Redshift, Snowflake) to optimize performance and scalability.
• Develop automation scripts for data validation, monitoring, and workflow orchestration using tools like Airflow or Glue.
• Assist in modernizing legacy data pipelines into cloud native architectures, leveraging approved AI tools and methodologies.
• Document technical workflows and contribute to engineering playbooks and reusable components.
Key Domain
• Data Engineering: scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and transformation workflows built with Python, PySpark, and SQL.
• Cloud Infrastructure: data lake and warehouse environments across AWS S3, Redshift, and Snowflake.
• Platform Automation: orchestration, validation, and monitoring using Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, and CI/CD pipelines.
Core Elements
• Duration: 6 Months
• Eligibility: B.Tech/M.Tech • Date of joining: Jan 2027
Key Learning Outcomes
• Hands-on exposure to data engineering tools and cloud ecosystems.
• Understanding of how large-scale data platforms are architected and maintained.
• Experience with ETL/ELT automation, orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Deep appreciation of data quality, reliability, and governance in a production-grade environment.
• Ability to translate engineering work into measurable business impact.
