Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) is an area within Student Life that provides members of sororities and fraternities with support, advisement, leadership opportunities and developmental programming to enhance their educational and membership experience. The SFL staff and graduate assistants serve as liaisons between the university and the six student-run governing councils - The Interfraternity Council (IFC), The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), The Texas Asian Panhellenic Council (TAPC), The Latino Pan-Hellenic Council (LPHC), The University Panhellenic Council (UPC), as well as sororities and fraternities that are part of our Affiliate Leadership Circle.
Purpose
SFL Ambassadors are a group of experienced students who serve as the official representatives of the University of Texas at Austin’s sorority and fraternity community. SFL Ambassadors will provide information and available resources to students and families who want to become engaged with the sorority and fraternity community.
Responsibilities
- Attend all SFL Ambassador trainings and staff meetings
- Maintain updated knowledge of sorority and fraternity recruitment/intake processes and opportunities
- Serve as a representative at involvement fairs and other tabling events
- Assist with administrative duties such as staffing the SFL front desk, answering phone calls and emails, and other duties as assigned by the SFL staff
- Support SFL staff with programming efforts (program prep and day-of tasks such as making nametags, gathering supplies, staffing a check-in table, event setup or take-down, decorating when appropriate, etc.)
- Manage the SFL interest form and host consultations with students interested in SFL
- Collaborate with campus partners to promote the sorority and fraternity experience across campus and to prospective students.
- Curate, compose and publish content for use within area social media, website, newsletter.
- Meet with supervisor for ideation, updates, and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
- Membership in a sorority or fraternity at UT Austin
Preferred Qualifications
- A desire to work as part of a team, with college students, and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable with the use of technology
- The ability to provide excellent customer service.
- The ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and guests.
Hourly Pay Rate - $10.00/hr
Working Conditions
Typical office environment. The job will include computer work, tabling, event set-up/takedown, etc.
Work Shift
Hours to be scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some prescheduled evening and weekend hours.
