Description

KDG Construction Consulting is seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide project management services for complex public infrastructure and facility improvement projects. The Project Manager will serve as the owner's representative and be responsible for managing the day-to-day planning, design, procurement, construction, and close-out of capital improvement projects while ensuring successful delivery within established scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives. This individual will collaborate with clients, design consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders to coordinate project activities, resolve issues, mitigate risks, and support successful project execution throughout the project lifecycle.

The Project Manager will oversee multiple concurrent projects, monitor project performance, facilitate communication among project stakeholders, and provide leadership to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage capital improvement projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project close-out.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and overall project execution plans.
• Coordinate project planning and development activities from project initiation through completion.
• Coordinate the preparation, review, and approval of design documents, construction drawings, specifications, and bid packages.
• Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with project scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
• Identify project risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts to cost, schedule, and project delivery.
• Review project schedules and monitor milestone completion throughout design and construction.
• Coordinate environmental reviews, permitting activities, utility coordination, and jurisdictional approvals, including compliance with CEQA and NEPA requirements.
• Facilitate project meetings, prepare meeting documentation, and communicate project status to clients and project leadership.
• Review contractor requests for information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, and payment applications while coordinating with design teams and project stakeholders.
• Negotiate and administer construction change orders while maintaining project budget controls and contract compliance.
• Monitor and coordinate construction activities to ensure contractor performance, quality of work, safety, and adherence to contract requirements.
• Establish and manage project expectations while maintaining effective communication with project teams and stakeholders.
• Coordinate commissioning activities, occupancy planning, punch list completion, and project close-out documentation.
• Prepare project reports, executive summaries, presentations, and other documentation for leadership and client review.
• Support communication and coordination among project teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Perform additional project management assignments as required to support program objectives.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum five (5) years of progressive project management experience managing municipal infrastructure, public agency, or facility improvement projects.
• Minimum five (5) years of concurrent construction management or field construction experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects through planning, design, environmental review, permitting, construction, and project close-out.
• Experience in project planning and development.
• Ability to independently manage all phases of multiple concurrent projects.
• Experience developing and managing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and project controls.
• Experience reviewing and coordinating construction documents, technical specifications, and consultant deliverables.
• Ability to effectively facilitate project meetings and coordinate activities among clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Experience negotiating, evaluating, and administering construction change orders.
• Ability to effectively monitor and coordinate construction activities with project stakeholders.
• Ability to establish and manage project expectations while maintaining positive client relationships.
• Knowledge of public agency construction practices, contract administration, and project delivery methods.
• Working knowledge of CEQA and NEPA environmental review processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and project documentation.
• Ability to identify project risks, resolve issues, and adapt to changing project priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project management software.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience managing municipal infrastructure and public facility improvement projects.
• Experience managing deferred maintenance, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
• Experience managing sustainability infrastructure projects, including renewable energy, electric vehicle charging, or energy efficiency improvements.
• Experience with Job Order Contracting (JOC) project delivery.
• Experience with Design-Bid-Build project delivery.
• Knowledge of the California Public Contract Code and public procurement practices.
• Experience working on occupied facilities while coordinating construction activities to minimize operational impacts.
• Design experience in architecture, engineering, or related disciplines.

Anticipated Salary Range: $160,000.00 – $183,000.00 per year
