About the Role
Are you a hands-on engineer who enjoys troubleshooting, process development, and working closely with production teams? AKG North American Operations is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve processes involved in building aluminum heat exchangers and steel assemblies.
This is a highly collaborative and practical role—ideal for an engineer who wants to be involved in daily plant support, tooling design, and continuous improvement initiatives, while contributing to capital equipment upgrades and automation projects.
Key Responsibilities
· Support day-to-day operations of fabrication and assembly processes—including brazing, welding, and machining.
· Troubleshoot production issues and implement process improvements.
· Design and optimize tooling, fixtures, and electromechanical systems.
· Support automation and capital equipment projects from concept through implementation.
· Create and update standard work instructions, process documentation, and quality checks.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, quality, supply chain, and engineering).
· Participate in DFM/A, PFMEA, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
· Assist in new product introduction and support early production ramp-up.
· Provide informal technical guidance to operators and technicians.
· Assist with data collection, KPI tracking, and reporting using Excel or Power BI.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
· Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Familiarity with tooling, fixtures, or fabrication processes.
· Exposure to capital equipment support or automation projects.
· Experience using 3D CAD software (SolidEdge preferred) and understanding of GD&T.
· Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with aluminum heat exchanger manufacturing (e.g., brazing, leak testing) or steel fabrication (laser, press brake, robotic welding).
· Knowledge of Lean, 5S, or Kaizen principles.
· Exposure to PLC, automation, or mechatronic systems.
· Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with MES/SCADA/IIoT systems.
Physical & Work Environment
· Work is split between office and production floor environments.
· Requires walking, standing, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs).
· Use of standard fabrication tools and adherence to safety protocols is required.
