Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Specialist I to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical systems and equipment in a power plant or heavy industrial environment.

This role will support motors, generators, transformers, switches, controls, wiring, communication systems, emergency DC battery systems, and medium/high-voltage equipment ranging from 480V to 13.8kV. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on electrical maintenance experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a strong commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain:

  • Motors

  • Generators

  • Transformers

  • Switches

  • Control equipment

  • Electrical wiring

  • Signal and communication systems

• Perform journey-level electrician work, including installation of wiring, equipment, and controls.

• Maintain plant DC emergency battery backup systems.

• Perform maintenance on electrical systems ranging from 480V to 13.8kV.

• Support basic high-voltage switchyard electrical maintenance.

• Inspect, test, and maintain electrical and high-voltage systems.

• Perform electrical system isolations in accordance with industry standards and safety procedures.

• Support and provide training related to Electrical Safety programs.

• Perform preventive maintenance and basic inspections on tools and equipment.

• Respond to electrical emergencies as required, including nights or off-hours.

• Support planned outages, equipment repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.

• Document maintenance activities, repairs, equipment performance, and shift/job reports.

• Communicate equipment condition, issues, and improvement recommendations to supervision and plant personnel.

• Work closely with technicians, operators, and maintenance teams to support safe and reliable plant operations.

Required Qualifications

• 5–10 years of related electrical maintenance experience.

• Technical degree from an accredited institution.

• Previous experience as a Journeyman Electrician or equivalent relevant military experience.

• Strong experience troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical systems.

• Hands-on experience with motors, generators, transformers, switches, and control systems.

• Experience working with voltages from 480V through 13.8kV.

• Familiarity with high-voltage switchyard maintenance and electrical safety practices.

• Experience performing electrical isolations following industry standards.

• Strong understanding of electrical safety and hazard awareness.

• Ability to read and follow technical procedures and instructions.

• Strong organizational and computer skills.

• Ability to work safely and effectively in a power plant or heavy industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Power generation or heavy industrial experience.

• Experience supporting planned outages and plant maintenance activities.

• Experience training others on electrical safety practices.

• Strong troubleshooting background with medium- and high-voltage systems.
