Overview
THE ROLE: The Senior Officer – Contract Manufacturing (CM) Sourcing is responsible for supporting the identification, qualification, development, and management of Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and third-party manufacturing partners for Herbalife's nutrition, healthcare, and food products.
This role partners closely with Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Supply Planning, R&D, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure successful supplier onboarding, cost competitiveness, uninterrupted supply, and successful commercialization of existing and new products. The incumbent supports strategic sourcing initiatives, open-book costing exercises, contract negotiations, supplier performance management, and continuous improvement programs that drive business value and operational excellence.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify new contract manufacturing partners aligned with business growth requirements.
- Support supplier scouting initiatives across nutrition, food, healthcare, and wellness product categories.
- Coordinate supplier capability assessments covering manufacturing infrastructure, equipment, capacities, technical expertise, and quality systems.
- Support supplier qualification audits in partnership with QA, QC, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams.
- Maintain an updated database of approved suppliers, manufacturing capabilities, capacities, certifications, and commercial information.
- Develop alternate manufacturing sources to ensure business continuity and supply chain resilience.
- Support commercial negotiations with CMOs to achieve competitive pricing and favorable supply terms.
- Conduct detailed open-book costing analyses to understand supplier cost structures and identify savings opportunities.
- Benchmark manufacturing conversion costs, overheads, labor costs, packaging costs, and material utilization against industry standards.
- Support annual cost reduction programs and productivity initiatives.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and efficiency improvements.
- Track sourcing savings, cost avoidance, and value creation initiatives.
- Support sourcing activities for new product launches, product transfers, reformulations, and capacity expansion projects.
- Coordinate supplier activities related to pilot batches, validation batches, trial productions, and commercial production readiness.
- Monitor project timelines, key milestones, and supplier deliverables.
- Ensure timely completion of sourcing activities to meet launch timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth commercialization and successful project execution.
- Support stage-gate reviews and project governance processes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contract manufacturing partners.
- Monitor supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, service, responsiveness, and compliance metrics.
- Support supplier business reviews and performance improvement initiatives.
- Work with suppliers to resolve technical, quality, operational, and commercial challenges.
- Facilitate development of supplier improvement plans and corrective actions.
- Promote collaborative partnerships that support growth, innovation, and operational excellence.
- Participate in continuous improvement and productivity initiatives across contract manufacturing operations.
- Analyze manufacturing efficiencies, labor productivity, equipment utilization, and process performance.
- Support value engineering and process optimization projects.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve yields, and enhance manufacturing effectiveness.
- Support implementation of best practices across manufacturing partners.
- Contribute to Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assess supplier risks related to capacity, quality, compliance, financial stability, and business continuity.
- Develop contingency sourcing plans and alternate supply strategies.
- Ensure supplier compliance with GMP, FSSAI, Herbalife quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support supplier corrective actions, root cause investigations, and compliance monitoring.
- Monitor evolving regulatory requirements impacting contract manufacturing operations.
- Support supplier sustainability and ESG initiatives where applicable.
- Work closely with Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, R&D, Supply Chain, Planning, Finance, and Legal teams.
- Support evaluation of supplier capabilities and sourcing recommendations.
- Provide commercial insights and supplier intelligence to project teams.
- Facilitate communication between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Support preparation of business cases, sourcing recommendations, and management reviews.

Skills:
- Strong understanding of contract manufacturing business models and supplier management.

Experience:
- 3-6 years of experience in Contract Manufacturing Sourcing, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Operations, or Supplier Management.
- Experience in Nutraceutical, Food, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, FMCG, or Consumer Health industries preferred.
- Experience working with GMP/FSSAI regulated manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to contract manufacturing operations, supplier qualification, and commercialization activities.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or university degree, ideally Pharmacy, Food tech, Economics, Finances, Engineering or related.
- Master's degree/ Project management/Sig Sigma Certification is a plus
- Experience managing third-party manufacturing relationships.
- Knowledge of manufacturing conversion costing and plant productivity analysis.
- Exposure to facility cost modeling, labor productivity assessments, and process improvement programs.
- Experience supporting NPD commercialization and product transfers.
- Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, Ariba, or other ERP/procurement systems.
