Let me tell you about the role

As a Senior Security Hyperplane Team Lead, you will directly lead the people, performance, priorities, and coordinated delivery of a Security Hyperplane team.

Your teamʼs responsibilities will span data-product delivery, consumer adoption, service operation, data quality, operational readiness, controls, evidence, service transition, and continual improvement.

Security Hyperplane provides security and identity operational-context data products, ontology, data ingestion, analytics, reporting, and observability capabilities using bpʼs enterprise data platform services.

You will translate organisational and product priorities into clear team objectives and create the conditions for engineers to deliver high-quality outcomes. You will allocate work, manage capacity, coach performance, develop capability, remove barriers, and ensure risks and dependencies are visible and appropriately escalated.

You will maintain sufficient technical and operational understanding to lead effectively while relying on engineers and accountable technical authorities for specialist decisions

What you will deliver

• Lead the day-to-day performance, delivery, wellbeing, and development of a multidisciplinary Security Hyperplane team.
• Translate organisational and product priorities into clear team objectives, work plans, delivery commitments, and measurable outcomes.
• Allocate work according to priority, capability, capacity, risk, service demand, and individual development needs.
• Ensure the team delivers secure and effective data products, consumer outcomes, operational services, data quality, service transition, controls, evidence, and continual improvement.
• Maintain clear accountability for assigned work and ensure risks, dependencies, incidents, data-quality concerns, control gaps, and delivery issues are raised early.
• Coordinate team responses to significant incidents, operational risks, audit or control requirements, delivery challenges, and remediation commitments.
• Ensure team activities align with approved product direction and comply with applicable architecture, engineering standards, security policies, data-governance requirements, operational procedures, and controls.
• Ensure new or changed capabilities are accepted only when appropriate ownership, documentation, monitoring, support, controls, and operational arrangements are established.
• Maintain effective working relationships across Product Management, Engineering, Architecture, Enablement, Support, Cyber Security, Data Governance, Risk, Compliance, suppliers, and business teams.
• Monitor team measures covering delivery, service quality, data reliability, consumer adoption, operational performance, workload, risk, and improvement.
• Use performance information and feedback to identify delivery barriers, capability gaps, workload concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
• Encourage automation, self-service, standardisation, reusable engineering practices, and the reduction of recurring manual effort.
• Set clear individual objectives and provide regular feedback, coaching, performance management, recognition, and development support.
• Build team capability through purposeful assignments, mentoring, learning, mobility, and exposure to increasingly complex outcomes.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, succession, workforce planning, supplier coordination, and responsible use of third-party resources.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, accountable, and psychologically safe working environment.
• Represent the team in delivery, operational, assurance, service, and cross-platform forums within delegated authority

What you will need to be successful

Experience and qualifications

• A bachelorʼs degree in computer science, engineering, data, cyber security, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Professional experience in data platforms, data engineering, analytics, cyber security organisations, or enterprise technology.
• Demonstrated experience directly leading, supervising, or coordinating the performance and delivery of technology professionals.
• Experience establishing objectives, allocating work, managing performance, coaching people, resolving delivery barriers, and communicating with customers and partners.
• Experience working with enterprise data platforms, data products, operational controls, audit or compliance commitments, incidents, service transitions, complex remediation and competing delivery priorities.
• Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, capability development, workforce planning, and the coordination of internal and external resources.
• Experience collaborating across Product Management, Engineering, Architecture, Enablement, Support, Cyber Security, Data Governance, Risk, Compliance, Audit, suppliers, and business teams

Technical skills we need from you

• Working knowledge of enterprise data platforms, data products, data pipelines, analytics, data quality, governance, data access, observability, and platform operations.
• Understanding of how source systems, data products, applications, infrastructure, integrations, consumers, and controls interact.
• Understanding of service management, operational readiness, incident response, problem management, data reliability, risk management, service transition, and continual improvement.
• Ability to recognise technical, data, operational, security, and governance risks and engage the appropriate accountable owner or technical authority.
• Ability to use delivery, service, workload, quality, adoption, risk, and user-experience information to manage team priorities.
• Understanding of automation, observability, reporting, self-service, controlled engineering practices, and reusable platform capabilities for enterprise data services.
• Ability to communicate technical and operational matters clearly to engineers, consumers, leaders, suppliers, and other partners
