The Safety & Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all facility maintenance and safety functions, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing environment. This hands-on role manages preventive maintenance programs, performs equipment and facility repairs, and oversees safety compliance with OSHA and company standards. The position includes responsibility for maintaining and troubleshooting production presses, dies, and related tooling to ensure consistent, high-quality output. The Safety & Maintenance Supervisor works closely with production, engineering, and leadership teams to support operational goals while fostering a strong culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities
Safety Management & Compliance
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all departments.
• Lead safety training initiatives, including hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
• Investigate safety incidents, document findings, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
• Partner with leadership to drive a proactive safety culture emphasizing employee engagement and continuous improvement.
Maintenance Operations
• Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of production equipment, including mechanical presses, dies, and tooling.
• Conduct press setup checks and ensure dies are maintained, lubricated, and stored properly to prevent damage and ensure repeatable performance.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Coordinate maintenance priorities with Production and Engineering to support daily operational needs.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure critical equipment readiness.
• Support equipment installation, upgrades, and process improvement projects.
Continuous Improvement
• Utilize lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, standard work, and visual management to improve efficiency and workplace organization.
• Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, energy consumption, and maintenance costs.
• Participate in safety and facility improvement projects that enhance productivity and overall plant performance.
• Promote a culture of accountability, organization, and continuous improvement in both safety and maintenance processes.
Qualifications
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, Safety Management, or related field (preferred).
• 3–7 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance and/or safety in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, and other regulatory safety requirements.
• Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Demonstrated experience with press maintenance, die care, and tooling management.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles (5S, standard work).
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Primarily shop-floor based with routine office work for planning and documentation.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. as part of daily activities.
• Exposure to typical manufacturing environment conditions including noise, dust, and temperature variation.
