Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Manager, Strategy drives enterprise strategic planning and advances high-impact, cross-functional priorities across Pattern. This role combines analytical problem-solving, executive decision support, and workstream leadership to translate strategic priorities into actionable plans. The Manager also strengthens investment and commercial decision-making by improving the processes and materials supporting the Investment Committee, Commercial Review Committee, and Board Investment & Finance Committee.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning workstreams, including scenario analysis, issue framing, and the development of materials that inform major business and portfolio decisions.
- Structure and advance enterprise-wide priorities by coordinating inputs, tracking actions, resolving cross-functional issues, and driving follow-through.
- Identify and implement improvements to investment and commercial decision-making processes, documents, and governance, with a particular focus on linking decisions to the strategic plan.
- Prepare executive-ready briefing notes, presentations, status updates, and concise syntheses for leadership and Board-level discussions.
- Independently manage defined analyses and workstreams, establishing the approach, sequencing activities, and maintaining momentum against evolving timelines.
- Identify risks, issues, and interdependencies; recommend solutions and escalate matters appropriately.
- Coordinate stakeholders and working teams to build alignment and accountability in situations where influence is more important than direct authority.
- Support ad hoc strategic analyses and other enterprise-priority requests.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Five to eight years of relevant professional experience, including demonstrated success independently managing workstreams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-structuring, and communication skills, with the ability to turn broad strategic questions into practical analyses, decisions, and implementation plans.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, including the ability to create executive-ready presentations and concise written syntheses.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with shifting timelines.
- Sound judgment, strong attention to detail, and a consistent commitment to ownership and follow-through.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting executive teams or Board-level decision-making.
- Experience with transformation efforts, integration initiatives, enterprise planning processes, or investment and commercial governance.
Working Relationships and Decision Authority
This role reports to the Vice President, Strategy and has no direct or dotted-line reports. The Manager works collaboratively across the organization and is expected to lead through influence. Within assigned workstreams, the role has authority to structure analyses, sequence work, coordinate inputs, identify and escalate risks, and recommend priorities and stakeholder engagement approaches. The position does not have direct financial accountability.
The expected starting pay range for this role is $103,000.00 - $138,000.00 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
