Within Business Banking (BB), the Digital Banking Domain is responsible for transforming the way our business customers interact with us across platforms like CommBiz, CommBiz Mobile, the CommBank App and NetBank. The Process and Performance Improvement Centre of Excellence (CoE) supports the Domain through strategic, crew-agnostic initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
Do Work That Matters:
Reporting to the CoE Lead, Process and Performance Improvement, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping BB Digital strengthen how we manage and use data to deliver better outcomes for our customers, colleagues and business. You’ll help shape and execute the Domain’s data strategy and improve our data practices, working with stakeholders across the Domain. This is a unique and highly visible role that is key to the Domain’s delivery of a word class digital experience for our business customers.
In this role you will:
· Lead the data strategy for the Domain, providing thought leadership and ensuring it supports business priorities, customer outcomes and risk management expectations
· Act as the Domain’s Data SME and steward, driving the development, lifecycle management and governance over of high quality, reusable data products and assets in accordance with Group policies and procedures
· Work closely with CoE Leads, Crew Tech Leads, product leads, risk, compliance and other stakeholders to execute data and related areas strategies (e.g. lineage, usage, retention and disposal), resolve ambiguity and provide hands on support for implementation of data and related area outcomes in line with Group requirements.
· Support continuous improvement across the Domain by identifying opportunities to simplify, modernise, rationalise or improve how data is managed and used.
· Build data literacy across the Domain by making data management practices clear, practical and relevant to business teams.
· Support effective and ethical AI outcomes by ensuring the underlying data is well understood, appropriately governed and fit for purpose.
· As a member of the CoE, lead or contribute to other strategic initiatives that drive process and performance improvements across the Domain and support the management of the CommBiz platform.
· Proactively manage CoE owned risks, issues and incidents and perform risk controls.

We’re interested in people who bring strong judgement, curiosity and the ability to create clarity in complex environments. You may already have data management experience, or you may bring substantial risk, governance, audit or process improvement experience and a strong appetite to build your data capability quickly.
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across diverse teams and simplify complex concepts.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to bring structure, clarity and momentum to areas of ambiguity and complexity.
A practical understanding of risk management, controls, issue management and governance in a business environment.
Substantial data related experience or the ability to quickly build knowledge of data management practices, including data quality, metadata, lineage, access, usage and lifecycle management.
Proven ability to investigate issues, identify root causes and drive practical, sustainable solutions.
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in areas such as risk, compliance, audit, business management, data management, analytics, actuarial studies or technology.
Experience with cloud-based data platforms or modern data architecture would be well regarded but is not essential.
