Overview

QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking dedicated and experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide high-quality, comprehensive nursing care within the Maternal Child Unit (MC) at Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC), Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), WA.

This position provides comprehensive nursing care to postpartum mothers and newborns, including patients recovering from surgical procedures. The RN is responsible for managing the care of both mothers and infants throughout the assigned shift, including patient assessment, medication and treatment administration, care planning, documentation, patient and family education, and coordination with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

The ideal candidate will have recent postpartum and/or neonatal nursing experience, strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations. Candidates should be comfortable providing care to patients with varying levels of clinical complexity while maintaining a professional, compassionate approach.

 

This role requires a dependable nursing professional who can meet government qualification, credentialing, security, and onboarding requirements while working under a personal services arrangement. The RN will support the healthcare mission at MAMC by providing safe, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns and contributing to high-quality clinical outcomes.

 

  • Duty Location: Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Tacoma, WA 98431. No Telework allowed.
  • Duty Hours:
    • Day Shift Duty Hours: 0700 - 1930; 0700 – 1730; 0700-1530; 0900-1930, 1100-1930; 0600-1630; 0900-1730; 0900-2130; 1100-2130;1200-2030; 0800-1630; 0830-1700; 0900-1730; 0930-1800; 1030-1900; 0530-1800
    • Evening Shift Duty Hours: 1100-2330; 1500-2330; 1500-0330; 1000-2230; 1200-0030;1500-0330; 1300-2330; 1300-2130; 1700-2330
    • Night Shift Duty Hours: 1900-0330; 1900-0730; 2300-0730; 2100-0730
    • 4-hour shifts may be implemented into the duty hours if needed by the unit.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive professional nursing care to postpartum mothers and neonates.
  • Care for postoperative patients and monitor their recovery and progress.
  • Obtain patient and family histories and assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses.
  • Administer medications, blood products, and prescribed treatments within the RN's scope of practice.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and treatments and complete patient admissions and discharges.
  • Develop, implement, and manage individualized nursing care plans.
  • Monitor and interpret patient information collected by LPNs and unlicensed personnel and report significant findings to medical staff.
  • Provide patient and family education, assess understanding, and serve as a patient advocate.
  • Perform direct patient-care activities, including positioning, transporting, hygiene, feeding, lifting, turning, and other supportive care.
  • Communicate pertinent patient information during shift reports and patient handoffs.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the MAMC medical record/EHR.
  • Follow established infection-control, quality assurance, and risk-management procedures.
  • Participate in nursing reports, patient-care conferences, discharge planning, and multidisciplinary care conferences.
  • Recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac/respiratory arrest, hemorrhage, shock, trauma, and other critical conditions.
  • Operate emergency equipment such as defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors as required.
  • Maintain professionalism, composure, and positive relationships with patients and families, including during stressful or difficult situations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum one year experience within the last two years as a registered nurse assistant working in a Maternal Child Care Unit (MC) Postpartum & Neonatal Unit.
  • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a registered nurse.
  • Certification(s):
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government.
  • Degree/Education: Minimum of Associate’s degree in nursing. The school must be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and/or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). For education outside the United States, only the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing School reports are accepted (CGFNS), for overseas degree verification.
