We are looking for a Manager Asset Manager who can play a critical role in maximizing the value, reliability, and lifecycle performance of Lithium’s asset base. This role leads the development and implementation of asset management strategies and ensures alignment between operational execution, technical standards, and long-term business objectives.
Operating within Technical Services, this role has enterprise scope across Lithium’s global operations and partners closely with site, maintenance, engineering, and operational leadership teams. The role balances strategic leadership with operational influence, ensuring consistent and effective asset management practices are deployed across sites.
Asset management is a key enabler of safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. This role is responsible for establishing standards, frameworks, and capabilities that optimize the performance, cost, and risk profile of Lithium’s physical assets.
Reporting to the GM Manufacturing & Technical Services for Lithium, you will:
- Lead the development and deployment of asset management strategy (including mechanical, electrical, and process controls) across Lithium operations, ensuring alignment with business priorities and long-term plans
- Define asset management requirements and ensure all levels of activity support the organization’s strategic and operational objectives
- Establish and embed asset management standards, frameworks, and governance in line with Rio Tinto practices
- Drive improvements in asset performance, reliability, and lifecycle cost through data-driven insights and cross-site collaboration
- Partner with site leadership, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure consistent execution of asset management practices
- Identify and prioritize enterprise-level opportunities to improve asset utilization, performance, and risk management
- Lead and develop an asset management capability, including setting role clarity, capability requirements, and team structure
- Deploy and support teams to drive delivery of asset strategy, ensuring outcomes are aligned with operational needs and resource availability
- Influence and contribute to the broader Rio Tinto asset management strategy and community of practice
- Champion continuous improvement and ensure asset management practices evolve with business growth and integration priorities
About you
You are a strategic and technically grounded leader with deep experience in asset management within complex industrial or processing environments. You are able to operate across sites and functions, influencing outcomes and driving consistency at scale.
You bring a strong balance of technical depth, operational understanding, and leadership capability, with a focus on delivering measurable improvements in asset performance.
You will have:
- Significant experience in asset management, reliability, maintenance strategy, or engineering within mining, chemicals, or heavy industry
- Proven ability to develop and implement asset management strategies and frameworks
- Experience managing and developing teams of technical professionals and/or managers
- Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, performance optimisation, and risk management
- Ability to translate strategy into practical, scalable solutions across multiple sites
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability across operational and technical leadership levels
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive enterprise outcomes
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to leverage asset performance insights to inform decisions
- Experience working across multi-site or global operations
- Rio Tinto asset management standards or similar frameworks
- Experience supporting organisational integration or changing environments
