VACANCY STATUS:
Immediate, Open Position
12 Month Contract
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor all presses and ensure the processes are running to the issued set-up. This includes verifying the process each shift and reporting deviations from the set-up to the Process Engineer.
• Provide quality parts to the customer, including first off and last off evaluation, and responding to quality issues brought forth by the customer, both internal and external. This may include consulting a Quality Engineer / Technical Area Leader to evaluate the parts. When necessary, follow the part approval process for changes made to the process.
• Responsible for troubleshooting process control problems that arise during production, driving the investigation of the problem to the root cause and implementing permanent corrective action. Responsible for reporting out-of-control conditions to the Technical Area Leader and Process Engineer.
• Responsible for seeing that equipment is running properly and problems are reported to, and resolved by, support staff including maintenance and tooling departments.
• Responsible for assisting the production department with shutting down or starting up of presses when required
• Job pace is dictated by production and process demands. Job tasks are clearly defined but timing or priority decisions are required to be made when competing demands must be balanced.
• Required to support tool trials, material trials and new process development, including documentation and following the part approval process
• Responsible for taking care of supplies, materials, equipment and tools that are required to perform the job
• Required to maintain good working relations within your department and with other departments at Plastcoat
• Communicate with following shift Process Technicians (i.e. Mould change priority, etc.)
• Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
• Comply with the requirements of CTPAT/PIP
• Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the Magna Code of Conduct
• Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
• Adhere to applicable quality systems and IATF16949 standards
• Adhere to and promote the Employee Charter and work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Plastcoat Employee Handbook
• Participate in and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards
• Ensure work area is kept neat and organized
• Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
• Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Formal training in plastics processing an asset
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in molding Machine Set-up role
• Minimum 1 year experience with Processing molding machines
• Experience as Material Handler preferred
• Experience in automotive industry an asset
SKILLS:
• Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, and basic electrical (as pertaining to core functions)
• Knowledge of Advanced Engineering Resins
• Basic knowledge of Tooling functions
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Computer literate in MS Word and spreadsheet programs
• Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Well-developed organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and in a teamwork environment
