About the Role
Nature of position: Fixed Term Full-time
Location: Melbourne/Sydney/Peth
Reporting Line: Project Manager
This is a 12 month fixed term position, with the potential for extension subject to business requirement, project pipeline and ongoing demand.
Key Responsibilities
The Design Engineer is responsible for working closely with stakeholders to develop effective design solutions and coordinate the completion of design packages for mobile base stations, including:
- Develop and deliver end-to-end mobile telecommunications designs for new sites, upgrades, co-locations and modifications across 4G/5G RAN infrastructure, ensuring designs are practical, compliant and construction-ready.
- Work closely with RF Engineers, clients and other engineering disciplines to develop and finalise site designs, ensuring RF, structural, equipment and site requirements are appropriately integrated.
- Coordinate and manage all design inputs and supporting engineering requirements, including structural assessments, structural calculations, equipment specifications, site investigations and any other technical assessments required to complete the design.
- Prepare, review and finalise detailed design documentation and construction drawings, ensuring all deliverables meet client requirements, carrier standards, Australian Standards and relevant project specifications.
- Collaborate with shop detailers, drafting teams, contractors and suppliers throughout the design process to resolve technical queries, incorporate constructability requirements and ensure designs are suitable for implementation.
- Provide technical support throughout the design and build lifecycle, including design reviews, site inspections, construction support, design changes, technical queries, as-built documentation and project handover.
- Demonstrate strong end-to-end understanding and experience of mobile telecommunications projects, from initial site assessment and engineering design through to construction, commissioning and final delivery, identifying and resolving technical and constructability issues along the way.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who thrives in team environments which require dynamic and creative solutions to problems.
In addition to the above, we require an individual with:
- Demonstrated experience as Design or Construction Engineer in the telecom industry
- Strong knowledge of major Australian standards for design including concrete and structural steel
- Experience with design and analysis software such as AutoCAD, Multiframe, Strand 7, Mstower and TEDDS highly desirable
