What you’ll be doing…
We are looking for a visionary Senior Design Director to lead the overall visual identity for the Verizon brand. Operating at the same level as our Senior Creative Directors, this isn't a role for a passive overseer; it’s for a master architect of brand systems who thrives in the creation of holistic design languages and possesses the graphic design genius to execute them flawlessly.
You will be responsible for defining how our brand looks and feels across all touchpoints, building robust campaign graphic identities and comprehensive brand toolkits. Additionally, you will directly manage and mentor a small, elite design pod consisting of one Design Director and one Graphic Designer, fostering their growth while ensuring our brand's visual footprint remains unmatched and highly cohesive.
AI as Your Creative Co-Pilot: We don't just adopt technology; we pioneer it. At Verizon, we believe AI shouldn’t replace human genius—it should liberate it. In this role, you won't just tolerate GenAI; you will champion it to supercharge our creative development pipeline. We leverage advanced AI tools to accelerate brainstorming, execute rapid visual prototyping, and smash through routine generation bottlenecks. We expect you to treat AI as an expansive, collaborative canvas—using it to test the boundaries of "what if" at lightning speed, freeing up your team to focus on what matters most: deeply human, authentic, and jaw-dropping storytelling.
Responsibilities include:
Define the Global Brand Identity: Lead the evolution, governance, and expression of the overall Verizon visual identity, ensuring world-class design consistency and excellence across every consumer touchpoint.
Architect Design Systems & Toolkits: Conceptualize and execute comprehensive brand design systems and scalable toolkits that enable internal teams and external partners to build unified assets at speed.
Forge Campaign Graphic Identities: Collaborate closely with campaign creative directors to build bespoke graphic identities for high-profile brand and integrated Above-The-Line (ATL) campaigns, seamlessly translating big conceptual ideas into visual design systems.
Direct & Mentor: Manage, inspire, and elevate a dedicated design team consisting of one Design Director and one Graphic Designer, guiding their technical development and protecting the integrity of their craft.
Push Brand Boundaries: Honor the foundational principles of the Verizon brand while constantly finding fresh, daring ways to evolve its visual identity through a modern, sophisticated design lens.
Command the Room: Confidently pitch, defend, and articulate complex design philosophies, visual systems, and brand guidelines to senior executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
What we’re looking for…
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Ten or more years of experience within top-tier design studios, advertising agencies, or world-class in-house creative teams, with a heavily decorated portfolio showcasing comprehensive brand design systems and award-winning graphic design.
Proven experience navigating, scaling, and delivering high-stakes brand design systems for a major Fortune 100 brand. You know how to build rigid yet flexible guidelines that allow a massive enterprise to move with agility.
A deep, uncompromising passion for typography, layout, photography, color theory, and graphic design in general. You know what looks good, and more importantly, how to build a scalable logic behind it.
Extensive experience creating comprehensive brand books, design toolkits, and style guides that translate seamlessly across print, digital, motion, and experiential platforms.
You are zero-ego, highly collaborative, and deeply invested in the growth of your team.
If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
