Business Process Architect (BPA) - S4/HANA
Location: Hyderabad, India
This is an office‑first role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and team alignment, enabling us to deliver our best work. You will work primarily in the office, with the flexibility to work remotely for 40% of your time (two days per week).
The actual location of this job is in Hyderabad, India. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families, if needed.
Intro Summary of the Role
The Business Process Architect (BPA) plays a critical role in the implementation and optimization of the S4/HANA platform, focusing on Record-to-Report (R2R) related processes including Tax and Treasury. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement robust process solutions that enhance data accuracy and business decision-making.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to support the transformation of the respective workstream within the organization’s SAP S/4HANA ERP implementation. This position is essential to maximizing S/4HANA’s capabilities and embedding industry best practices to optimize, standardize, and harmonize processes across Lonza.
Scope of the Role
Responsible to provide in-depth knowledge and expertise in R2R related to Lonza business model archetypes.
Rethink existing processes and design new solutions with other stream members.
The role owns end to end process design for Record to Report within scope and provides clear recommendations for key design decisions.
The role defines and drives process standardisation, actively challenging deviations from the target operating model.
The role assesses whether solutions are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with the long term target operating model.
The role plays a key role in shaping R2R process design decisions within the programme, working closely with Global Process Owners and other stakeholders.

What You Will Do
Stakeholder Engagement & Solution Delivery
Partner with business stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into SAP S/4HANA solutions that support standardized global processes.
Advise stakeholders on SAP standard capabilities, best practices, and fit-to-standard principles while balancing business needs with project scope and timelines.
Support design governance by contributing to solution decisions, design reviews, and issue resolution.
Collaborate effectively with business process owners, technical teams, and System Integrators to deliver high-quality SAP solutions.
Communicate solution options, risks, and impacts clearly to both business and technical stakeholders.
SAP Solution Design & Process Optimization
Design SAP S/4HANA Record-to-Report (R2R) solutions that align with business requirements, SAP standard functionality, and industry best practices.
Challenge and refine business requirements to maximize the use of standard SAP capabilities and minimize custom developments.
Configure and support SAP S/4HANA Finance solutions where appropriate, ensuring consistency with the global template.
Develop functional specifications, process flows, configuration documentation, and solution designs.
Ensure solution designs support strong financial controls, audit requirements, and regulatory compliance.
Assess business processes and recommend improvements that leverage SAP S/4HANA functionality to improve efficiency and standardization.
Ensure alignment between R2R processes and financial reporting, controlling, tax, treasury, and consolidation requirements.
Integration & SAP Delivery
Design and support end-to-end SAP solutions across Record-to-Report and its integration with Order-to-Cash, Source-to-Pay, Acquire-to-Retire, Manufacturing, Treasury, Tax, and Reporting processes.
Work within complex SAP landscapes, including environments where SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA coexist, ensuring solutions support both interim and target-state architectures.
Collaborate with SAP development, integration, security, data migration, and Basis teams throughout the implementation lifecycle.
Review functional specifications, RICEFW developments, and integration designs to ensure alignment with solution architecture and business requirements.
Work closely with System Integrators to challenge solution designs and ensure high-quality SAP deliverables.
Testing, Data Migration & Quality Assurance
Review and support functional testing activities including SIT, UAT, regression testing, and defect resolution.
Validate SAP configuration and ensure solutions meet functional and business requirements before deployment.
Support data migration activities, including data validation, reconciliation, and business sign-off.
Assist with cutover planning and deployment readiness to ensure successful SAP implementation.
Change Management & Business Readiness
Support business readiness by participating in fit-to-standard workshops, solution demonstrations, and knowledge transfer sessions.
Contribute to the development of SAP training materials and support business users during adoption.
Conduct change impact assessments and support implementation of new SAP capabilities across business functions.
Continuous Improvement & SAP Innovation
Identify opportunities to improve business processes using SAP S/4HANA standard functionality and digital capabilities.
Support post-go-live stabilization, hypercare, and continuous enhancement activities.
Stay current with SAP S/4HANA innovations and recommend practical improvements that enhance business value and user experience.

Proven experience in R2R processes.

Knowledge of associated systems and technology.
Familiar and/or open to learn industry best practice processes in relevant area.

Change management experience.
Working Conditions
Will require travel depending on project needs: 1st year min. 5-6 times for a duration of 2-3 weeks, less in 2nd year but still regularly.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
