Position Purpose:

Lead supplier quality activities for assigned automotive components and materials, ensuring suppliers consistently meet approved quality, technical, and customer requirements. Drive supplier qualification, audits, problem resolution, corrective actions, performance improvement, and quality risk reduction across the local assembly supply base.

Job Description:

1. Lead supplier quality activities for assigned local and international suppliers, components, and materials.
2. Monitor supplier quality performance, defect trends, PPM, rejection rates, recurring issues, and quality risks against approved targets.
3. Plan and conduct supplier process audits, product audits, capability assessments, and quality system assessments.
4. Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes, quality controls, inspection methods, process capability, and readiness to meet automotive requirements.
5. Lead supplier qualification and approval activities for new suppliers, new components, localization projects, and major process changes.
6. Review and approve or provide technical input on supplier quality documentation, including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, MSA, and SPC.
7. Lead investigation and resolution of critical supplier-related quality issues, ensuring immediate containment and protection of production and customers.
8. Lead supplier root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities using structured methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, and statistical analysis.
9. Verify the effectiveness of supplier corrective actions through evidence review, follow-up audits, process verification, and quality-performance monitoring.
10. Coordinate with Purchasing, Material Control, Warehouse, Production, Engineering, and Quality Control to resolve supplier quality and material availability risks.
11. Lead supplier development activities focused on defect prevention, process capability, quality-system maturity, and reduction of supplier-related quality costs.
12. Participate in new model introduction, engineering changes, localization, tooling changes, and production launch activities to ensure supplier quality readiness.
13. Develop and maintain supplier quality scorecards, audit records, nonconformity reports, corrective-action records, and supplier performance dashboards.
14. Identify high-risk suppliers and components and establish appropriate monitoring, containment, audit, and improvement plans.
15. Provide technical guidance and coaching to Supplier Quality Engineers and other quality team members on supplier audits, quality tools, and problem-solving methods.
16. Escalate major supplier quality risks and provide management with clear analysis, recovery plans, and recommendations.

Job Requirements:

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Industrial, Production, Automotive, or a related discipline.
• Professional certification in Quality Management, Six Sigma, Lean, Supplier Quality, or Lead Auditor is strongly preferred.

Experience

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Manufacturing Quality, or Process Quality.
• Strong experience in automotive, local vehicle assembly, automotive components, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
• Proven experience conducting supplier audits, managing supplier corrective actions, and resolving complex quality issues.
• Experience supporting new supplier qualification, APQP/PPAP, localization, or new product introduction is preferred.
• Experience providing technical guidance to junior quality engineers is an advantage.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced knowledge of Supplier Quality Assurance and supplier quality management systems.
• Strong knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and component quality requirements.
• Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow, MSA, and SPC.
• Strong knowledge of supplier audit planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up.
• Advanced root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills, including 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, and statistical analysis.
• Ability to evaluate supplier process capability, quality risks, control effectiveness, and corrective-action effectiveness.
• Knowledge of incoming inspection, supplier containment, nonconforming material control, deviation management, and quality escalation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical standards, and inspection requirements.
• Strong supplier performance analysis and reporting skills using Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Oracle ERP or relevant quality/manufacturing systems is strongly preferred.
• Ability to conduct supplier visits, audits, technical reviews, and improvement workshops.
• Strong technical communication, presentation, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
• Good command of English for supplier communication, technical documentation, and audits.
