What will you do as an IT Support Specialist?
The IT Support Specialist provides front-line and intermediate technology support for employees, endpoints, accounts, devices, and related company systems. This position is responsible for managing support queue activity and performing routine administration within established standards while escalating higher-risk or complex issues to the IT Manager. This position is on-site at our Rapid City, SD location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
User Support
- Own assigned support requests through resolution, documentation, communication, or escalation.
- Support computers, mobile devices, printers, phones, software, connectivity, accounts, and company technology by telephone, email, remote support, and in person.
- Participate in on-call support rotations and provide after-hours support as assigned.
Endpoints and Assets
- Deploy, configure, maintain, patch, and troubleshoot computers, mobile devices, software, and peripherals.
- Perform Intune enrollment, compliance, application deployment, inventory, lifecycle management, reassignment, loaner device management, and secure disposal activities.
Identity and Microsoft 365
- Complete onboarding, transfer, and offboarding tasks involving accounts, access, licensing, equipment, and security changes.
- Perform routine Microsoft 365, Entra ID, group, password, permissions, licensing, and collaboration-platform administration within approved procedures.
Security and Operations
- Support endpoint security, vulnerability remediation, backup verification, documentation, and assigned infrastructure tasks.
- Maintain accurate tickets, asset records, procedures, and knowledge articles and participate in cross-training and projects.
- Provide backup coverage for IT team functions and participate in approved technology deployments, upgrades, and projects.
- Support assigned server, virtualization, and infrastructure platforms including monitoring, maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting activities.
- Support assigned networking platforms including switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VPN, VLANs, connectivity, monitoring, maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting activities.
- Assist with the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of IT policies, standards, procedures, and security controls.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate's degree in information technology or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 or more years of experience supporting Windows, Microsoft 365, mobile devices, endpoint management, and common business technology.
- Basic understanding of networking, identity, cybersecurity, and IT service practices.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work in an office environment; sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time; may utilize a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.
- Work involves walking, talking and hearing using hands to handle, feel or operate objects. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus when using computer terminal
- Work involves bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, and lifting objects up to 50lbs unassisted.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be willing to travel to other company locations approximately 10-20% and attend out-of-town training and/or seminars.
- Working hours vary between 5 am and 6 pm depending upon schedules and the season, Monday through Friday. A minimum of 40 hours is expected per week, additional hours or weekends may be required occasionally to take advantage of off-peak system usage times for upgrades, testing, and installs that are necessary for this position.
- Mandatory participation in an on-call rotation one week every several weeks. On-call equipment including a cell phone is provided for the weekly duration.
