THE POSITION
Under direction, provides technical assistance to Health Care Agency personnel by supporting and coordinating tasks related to office automation systems; develops systems procedures; analyzes, designs and writes micro-computer programs; and performs related work as required.
This classification differs from the Office Systems Coordinator I classification in that more design and analysis will be performed and more complex micro-computer programming tasks are assigned. It differs from the Office Systems Coordinator III in that the latter is assigned a greater scope of responsibilities, exercises more independent judgment and may act as a lead.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will be a skilled professional with a solid foundation in office automation and micro-computer systems support, capable of coordinating the configuration and installation of personal computers and local area networks, performing feasibility studies and minor systems design, and developing micro-computer applications to meet department/agency needs. They will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and standard desktop configurations, along with the ability to perform standard analysis and programming tasks for the purpose of automating office procedures. Strong troubleshooting skills, coupled with the ability to resolve technical issues efficiently over the phone and through remote support tools, will support their role in providing help desk and technical assistance to users and serving as a liaison with ISD. In addition, the candidate will train department/agency personnel on automated office systems and provide occasional systems maintenance and repair.

PAYROLL TITLE: Office Systems Coordinators II
Office Systems Coordinators II is represented by the Services Employees’ International Union (SEIU) and is eligible for overtime compensation.
The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular, Temporary, Fixed-term, Intermittent, and Extra-help vacancies for this position only. There is currently one (1) Intermittent vacancy.
NOTE: An Intermittent Employee is a person employed for intermittent/temporary work on a day-to-day basis. Intermittent employees are not regular County employees and are not eligible for County benefits. Additionally, Intermittent employees are limited to working a maximum of 1,664 hours per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
OPENING DATE: September 28, 2026
CLOSING DATE: October 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinates software product and hardware configuration and installation of individual personal computers and/or local area networks and data communications;
- Responsible for vendor liaison, and coordination of technical evaluation of products and product procurement with HCA-IT;
- Provides data communication analysis and support;
- Provides technical assistance for user interface of office systems and large computer systems with HCA-IT;
- Performs feasibility studies, minor systems design and micro-computer application development as required by the department/agency;
- May assist management of department/agency in establishing priorities and planning office automation needs;
- Provides occasional systems maintenance and repair;
- Analyzes, designs and develops micro-computer programs;
- Develops systems procedures for department/agency users;
- Trains department/agency personnel on automated office systems use;
- Troubleshoots ongoing department/agency problems associated with automated office systems, including support provided in person, over the phone, and through remote support tools;
- Supports and coordinates tasks related to office automation systems;
- Understands and works with personal business computers in the office environment;
- Supports the concept of data communications networking of personal office computers in relation to mini- and mainframe computers;
- Maintains effective working relations with others; and
- Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE
Considerable experience in automated office systems coordination which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. The required knowledge, skills, and abilities can be obtained by:
Completion of pertinent office systems coursework with three (3) or more years of related experience.
DESIRED
- Experience supporting office systems in a healthcare setting
- Possession of an industry-recognized foundational IT certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of: Windows desktop operating systems and standard desktop configurations; general security concepts; micro-computer programming and systems design; personal computers, local area networks, and data communications; the use of software and hardware products in office automation; modern office procedures and automated equipment; feasibility studies and minor systems design; and call center support practices and remote support tools.
Working ability to: coordinate software and hardware configuration and installation of personal computers and/or local area networks; troubleshoot problems associated with automated office systems and refer repairs to Information Systems staff; perform minor systems maintenance/repairs; develop and maintain effective working relations with others; perform abstract reasoning and make arithmetic calculations rapidly and accurately; perform standard analysis and programming tasks for the purpose of automating office procedures; develop and support the concept of data communications networking of personal office computers in relation to mini- and mainframe computers; provide effective technical support to users in person, over the phone, and through remote support tools; and develop independence in the responsible performance of assigned duties.

WRITTEN EXAMINATION – 100%: A job-related written examination will be administered to test candidates’ knowledge of computer usage, computer operations, computer terms and definitions, computer help desk/desktop support, and customer service. Candidates must earn a score of seventy percent (70%) or higher to qualify for placement on the eligible list.
Applicants successfully completing the examination process may be placed on an eligible list for up to a period of one (1) year.
