Are you a collaborative financial leader who enjoys balancing strategy with hands-on operational excellence? Do you thrive on improving processes, developing people, and ensuring strong financial stewardship? If so, we invite you to bring your expertise to our Financial Operations team as our next Manager, Treasury and Financial Services.
In this influential leadership role, you will oversee the College's treasury and financial services operations, providing direction to a talented team responsible for cash management, investments, banking relationships, financial accounting, capital asset accounting, financial systems administration, reconciliations, reporting, and Ministry compliance activities.
You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the College's financial resources while modernizing processes, strengthening controls, and enhancing the quality and efficiency of financial operations. Your work will directly support informed decision-making, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional service experience for stakeholders across the institution.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
As Manager, Treasury and Financial Services, you will:
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team responsible for treasury administration, financial accounting operations, financial systems support, and reporting activities.
- Oversee the College's treasury operations, including banking relationships, cash flow forecasting, investments, debt administration, treasury accounting, and reporting.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial transactions, journal entries, reconciliations, and balance sheet accounts.
- Support the College's annual financial reporting process, including preparation of the Statement of Cash Flows, treasury disclosures, working papers, and Ministry reporting submissions.
- Strengthen internal controls, compliance practices, and operational procedures while maintaining alignment with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and Ministry requirements.
- Champion process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, automation opportunities, and business continuity planning.
- Partner with leaders across the College to provide financial expertise, solve complex business challenges, and improve operational effectiveness.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a leader who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for continuous improvement and team development.
Qualifications
- Minimum four (4) year degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing.
Experience and Skills
- Progressive leadership experience in treasury, financial accounting, or financial operations.
- Strong understanding of treasury management, cash flow forecasting, investments, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience interpreting and applying accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Advanced Excel and analytical capabilities, with experience working in enterprise financial systems.
- Demonstrated success leading teams, developing staff, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with financial systems implementations, project leadership, process improvement initiatives, Lean methodologies, or change management is considered an asset.
Why This Opportunity?
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at a leading post-secondary institution. You'll lead critical financial functions, support major modernization initiatives, influence operational improvements, and help shape how financial services are delivered across the College.
If you're a CPA who is energized by leadership, continuous improvement, and building strong financial operations that support student and institutional success, we'd love to hear from you.
