Role Purpose / Mission
The Maintenance General Business Manager provides strategic and operational leadership over the facility’s maintenance function. This role ensures that all equipment, utilities, and infrastructure operate safely, reliably, and efficiently to support production goals. The Maintenance GBM empowers Shift Business Managers and maintenance teams to drive uptime, reduce costs, and implement continuous improvement in reliability practices.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead, mentor, and develop Maintenance Shift Business Managers and frontline maintenance staff
· Establish and track maintenance KPIs (safety, equipment uptime, mean time to repair, maintenance cost per unit)
· Align maintenance priorities with overall plant operations and corporate objectives
· Drive preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime
· Collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and supply chain to remove bottlenecks
· Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards for maintenance activities
· Develop and manage maintenance budgets, capital planning, and forecasting
· Lead reliability initiatives, including root cause failure analysis and continuous improvement
· Build talent pipelines and succession plans for maintenance leadership and skilled trades

Required & Preferred Qualifications
Required:
· 5+ years of experience in maintenance leadership within manufacturing or heavy industry
· Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems
· Proven success in preventive/predictive maintenance and reliability programs
· Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, KPIs, and cross-functional projects
Preferred:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field
· Experience with CMMS systems and predictive technologies (vibration, thermography, oil analysis)
· Background in tubing, pipe, or metal fabrication environments
Typical Physical Demands
· Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day on a regular basis
· Requires additional hours of work as needed to meet business and departmental demands
· Frequent walking throughout the manufacturing facility (distances of up to 2 miles per day)
· Must be able to stand for extended periods during inspections or equipment reviews
· Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
· Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, or move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
· Requires ability to climb ladders, access platforms, and safely navigate maintenance areas
· Requires use of office equipment (phones, computers, CMMS, diagnostic tools)
Typical Working Conditions
· Mix of office environment and frequent exposure to the plant floor
· Exposure to loud noise, moving machinery, overhead cranes, and industrial equipment
· Must wear required PPE (safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear, etc.) when in plant areas
· May be required to support off-shift or weekend operations for emergencies or projects
