The PS Engineer role focuses on developing, evaluating, installing, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting NCR Atleos financial software solutions for ATMs and cash recyclers in customer and internal business environments. This role also provides technical leadership, architectural guidance, and ownership of complex solution deliveries across multiple customer engagements.
Upon acquiring deep expertise in NCR Atleos software solutions, consultants specialize in areas such as multi‑vendor platforms, security, manageability, performance, consumer flows, transaction processing, maintenance (supervisor) operations, and message formats. Specializations may rotate to ensure breadth of knowledge and advanced technical capability.
Candidates are expected to proactively anticipate internal and external customer needs, work effectively in environments with shifting priorities and ambiguity, and maintain a strong commitment to client satisfaction.
Travel will be required throughout Canada, primarily in Toronto and Montreal. Candidates should anticipate travel of approximately 40% to 50% of their time. Initial training may include trips to major Canadian hubs or client locations across the country.
Installation, troubleshooting, and/or software development experience is beneficial; however, this is not a full‑time development role. Some shift work may be required.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Analyze, Install, Configure, Troubleshoot
- Perform functional analysis of requirements to determine implementation effort in customer environments.
- Configure base software and supporting components.
- Conduct unit testing, track issues, and implement updates to meet functional and quality requirements.
- Diagnose and resolve system failures using knowledge of software behavior, system characteristics, and maintenance tools.
- Establish acceptance criteria and quality goals.
- Provide estimates, goals, standards, constraints, and dependencies as input into statements of work and delivery plans.
- Lead the design and delivery of complex, multi‑module or multi‑workstream software solutions.
- Provide architectural guidance and ensure alignment with enterprise standards and best practices.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for complex or high‑impact issues.
Quality Assurance & End‑to‑End Testing
- Lead analysis and resolution of software issues identified during testing.
- Direct end‑to‑end testing activities across integrated systems and environments.
- Ensure solution quality, performance, and stability prior to customer deployment.
Acceptance, Certification & Pilot Support
- Prepare software for customer and network distribution.
- Ensure installability through software distribution, bare‑metal installations, and local updates.
- Support field teams during lab installations, certifications, and training activities.
- Lead analysis and resolution of issues discovered during customer acceptance testing.
- Conduct technical discovery sessions and define solution architectures for customer certification and pilot efforts.
Production Support
- Provide resolution for production issues escalated from Level 3 Support, including development of hot fixes and execution of integration testing prior to QA delivery.
- Own technical outcomes of major production escalations and drive long‑term corrective actions and stability improvements.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other consultants, supporting skill development and solution quality.
- Lead internal knowledge‑sharing sessions, technical reviews, and enablement initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering, support, and sales teams to provide customer‑driven feedback and influence product direction.
- Contribute to the development of reusable frameworks, tools, and best practices that improve delivery efficiency.
- Support complex customer engagements, including solution scoping, demonstrations, and technical input to proposals.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent accreditation in computer science, information systems, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience providing technical project leadership and coordinating project resources.
- Experience working with Microsoft operating system technologies, including Windows 10 and Windows 7, with knowledge of hardware drivers, application installation, TCP/IP networking, IIS, remote access, and client/server architectures.
- Experience delivering technical presentations, webinars, and customer‑facing sessions.
Requirements
- ATM or kiosk self‑service industry experience.
- Programming or debugging experience in client applications.
- Familiarity with VB/VB.NET, C++, and C#.
- Advanced knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS; proficient in Java, C#
- Advanced knowledge of NodeJS, ExpressJS, .NET, AngularJS, Angular, XML
- Advanced knowledge of AngularJS, Angular, HTML, CSS;
- Client application development experience.
- Financial institution or network switch ATM operational experience.
- Experience with CEN XFS ATM software specifications.
- Knowledge of NDC and 912 message formats.
- Experience with proprietary message formats.
- Web services integration experience (WebSphere or IIS).
- Experience using PSA, Confluence, QuickBase.
- Experience with JIRA, Subversion, or similar source control tools.
- Working knowledge of Agile SDLC.
