Site Environmental, Health & Safety Lead

Collins Aerospace | Shannon, County Clare

At RTX, 185,000 talented people are united by a shared purpose: solving some of the world’s most complex challenges and helping to shape the future of aerospace and defence.

Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defence industry. Across our worldwide operations, we combine deep technical expertise, innovation, and operational excellence to help keep the world moving safely and reliably.

At Collins Aerospace Shannon, we are a world leader in the repair of electrical generator components for commercial aircraft. As a centre of excellence for electrical rewind repairs, we support major airlines, maintenance and repair organisations, and distributors across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Lead a culture of safety. Protect our people. Drive a more sustainable future.

Are you an experienced EH&S professional ready to take ownership of site performance and turn your expertise into meaningful improvements?

We are looking for a Site Environmental, Health & Safety Lead to lead EH&S compliance and continuous improvement at our Shannon site. This is an opportunity to work closely with site leadership, influence decisions and help ensure that safety and environmental responsibility are part of how we work every day.

Your impact

You will be the site’s lead source of EH&S expertise, building strong partnerships across all levels of the organisation. From strengthening risk controls and coaching colleagues to driving sustainability initiatives, you will combine strategic planning with practical action on the shop floor.

What you will do

Lead EH&S compliance and culture

  • Lead site EH&S compliance with applicable Irish and EU legislation, relevant international requirements, and Collins Aerospace instructions, procedures, and standard practices.
  • Partner with site leaders, supervisors, and employees to strengthen EH&S culture, accountability, and performance.
  • Develop and deliver action plans that meet and exceed site EH&S goals and support our ambition for a hazard-free workplace.
  • Act as the primary EH&S contact for employees and work with external agencies as required.

Manage risk and drive improvement

  • Lead workplace accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, ensuring root causes are understood and effective corrective actions are completed.
  • Ensure risk assessments are completed on time and translated into practical, effective controls.
  • Identify occupational health and safety hazards, promote ergonomic best practice and act as the site’s ergonomics coach.
  • Lead site emergency response preparedness and ensure EH&S requirements are addressed during construction activities.
  • Work closely with facilities management and the wider workforce to maintain safe working conditions.
  • Address findings, concerns and complaints arising from internal and external audits and inspections.

Build capability and measure performance

  • Lead and deliver EH&S training, ensuring required training is completed.
  • Provide site leadership, the EH&S committee and subcommittees with clear performance insights, trends, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate EH&S reporting systems, coordinate licence renewals, schedule EH&S meetings, and track project progress.
  • Lead and support cross-functional improvement projects, contributing to budget and resource planning as required.

Advance environmental sustainability

  • Identify and implement initiatives to reduce water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and hazardous waste, while increasing recycling.
  • Act as the site’s REACH focal point and support the implementation of relevant chemical compliance requirements.

What you will bring

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, occupational or industrial hygiene, or a related discipline.
  • At least seven years’ relevant experience, with a strong understanding of EH&S legal requirements and obligations under Irish and EU law.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within aerospace and/or a chemical environment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and implementing EH&S programmes, management systems and corrective actions at site or corporate level.
  • Strong expertise in risk assessment, programme evaluation, and auditing.
  • Practical knowledge and experience of ATEX, REACH, equipment safety, and ergonomics.
  • A recognised relevant EH&S or risk management qualification or certification, such as NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP, or credentials relating to ISO 14001 or ISO 45001.
  • The ability to analyse, interpret and accurately report EH&S performance metrics.
  • Strong leadership, organisational and project management skills, with the ability to turn priorities into action.
  • Clear communication and influencing skills, enabling you to work effectively with employees, leaders, and external agencies in a diverse, multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

What we Offer

  • Excellent Pension Scheme
  • Health Insurance
  • 25.5 days annual leave
  • Bonus scheme
  • Employee assistance program

Why join Collins Aerospace Shannon?

Your expertise will make a visible difference to the people and processes behind our specialist aircraft component repair operations. You will have the opportunity to shape site EH&S priorities, build lasting partnerships and deliver improvements that protect colleagues and reduce environmental impact.

Bring your expertise, lead with purpose, and help shape a safer, more sustainable Shannon site. Apply today.
