The applicant should be enthusiastic and self- motivated candidates to fill the Technical Officer position to support the laboratory animal care and animal research experiments in the Division. Salary is highly negotiable with gratuity arrangement.
Duties & responsibilities include:
- Perform daily animal health observations and animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of research animals, record and report animal health concerns;
- Identify clinical signs and make treatment recommendations;
- Supervise junior staff on supporting duties and animal husbandry;
- Assist research staff and students to perform animal experiments and breeding;
- Prepare import documentation for mice to be delivered overseas and arrange imported animals, quarantine and sample collection for disease screening;
- Collect facility environmental samples and conduct quality control laboratory tests;
- Assist orientation and hands-on training to new scientists and junior staff;
- Perform genotyping and breeding of transgenic colonies for experiments;
- Perform any other duties as assigned; and report to immediate supervisor on a bi-weekly basis.
- Non-regular working hours may be required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or a related biological science discipline.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in animal husbandry, including breed planning skills.
- Experience handling transgenic mouse colonies is a distinct advantage.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
