Join us as we harness cutting-edge technologies and unlock opportunities on a global scale. Together, let's sail towards a brighter, more sustainable future with Maersk.
We are now looking for a Senior Technology Lead LNG to help shape the future of our methane-powered fleet.
About the Role
Do you have deep, hands-on expertise in methane (LNG) engine operations and systems? Are you experienced not only in operating methane systems — including storage tanks, vaporization units, compressors, fuel supply systems, and BOG (Boil-Off Gas) management — but also in the detailed design behind them and in bringing newbuild vessels from yard to the water? If you've been at the sharp end of commissioning, gas trials, and first-of-class delivery, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Technology Lead LNG, you will:
- Shape Operations from Day One: Play a pivotal role in the successful design review, commissioning, and operation of our methane-fuelled vessels — taking first-of-class vessels from detailed design through to reliable operation on the water.
- Own the Detail Design Interface: Bring in-depth understanding of the detailed design of engines, FGSS, tanks, and gas-handling systems to challenge yards and OEMs, close design gaps, and ensure operability is built in before delivery.
- Bring First Vessels to the Water: Lead hands-on commissioning, gas-up, cooldown, and sea trial activities, ensuring a smooth transition from newbuild delivery to safe, efficient service operation.
- Collaborate Globally: Work closely with internal teams, shipyards, class societies, and external partners worldwide to ensure operational excellence across the fleet.
- Solve Challenges: Lead troubleshooting efforts on complex methane system and machinery issues, drawing on real operational experience to deliver practical, robust solutions.
- On-Site Expertise: Provide hands-on support and mentorship to colleagues and crew — at the yard, on-site during trials, and remotely once vessels are trading.
- Stay Ahead: Keep pace with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies, and feed lessons learned from operation back into future design and newbuild programmes.
What We're Looking For
- Proven Operational Experience: Engineers with substantial sea-going and/or shore-based operational experience on methane-fuelled vessels, who understand how these systems behave (and don't) in real service.
- Detailed Design Understanding: Professionals who know the detail design of methane fuel and gas-handling systems well enough to review, challenge, and improve it.
- Newbuild & Commissioning Track Record: Individuals who have taken vessels from yard through commissioning, gas trials, and delivery — ideally first-of-class or lead vessels in a series.
- Passion and Drive: Self-motivated professionals committed to achieving excellence in demanding, first-of-a-kind environments.
- Team Players: Collaborators who thrive in cross-functional, global settings and value knowledge-sharing.
- Safety and Quality Advocates: Individuals with an uncompromising focus on the highest safety and quality standards.
- Innovative Thinkers: Engineers who combine deep operational insight with creativity to implement and refine new technologies.
