Lead Facilities Technician

Summary:

The Lead Facilities Technician is responsible for ensuring that the campus environment operates efficiently and effectively to support an optimal learning and working experience. This position oversees the operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities, equipment, and tools while helping to maintain a safe, functional, and well-maintained campus. The incumbent may also provide guidance, training, and support to maintenance staff.

This position requires occasional work on the evenings and weekends.

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Manage the workflow and work order system for repairs and preventative maintenance, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Perform quality control checks and safety inspections.
• Maintain and troubleshoot building automation systems (BAS).
• Conduct training for technicians on proper maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
• Supervise and perform repairs and installation to all mechanical equipment on campus including HVAC and industrial kitchen equipment.
• Maintain relevant data and statistics for Operations.
• Support school event coordination. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required

• Experience with HVAC systems and building automation logic (BAS)
• Working knowledge of NFPA, Building Codes and standards
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn systems and software (Microsoft suite, CMMS software, etc.)
• Experience with new technologies and cutting-edge methods in facilities management.

Preferred Experience:

• Current Texas Electrician License 
• Supervisory experience
• Experience in a PreK – 12 environments, preferably in independent schools is a plus

Upon Hire

• Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks
• Completion of Safe Environment Training
• Current CPR certification 
• EPA Universal CFC Certification 

Physical Requirements

Sitting for extended periods while working at a computer, reviewing reports, and attending meetings. Ability to stand and/or walk throughout the campus facilities to manage activities, employees, and contactors. Frequent use of computers, phones, radio, and other office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and during presentations or meetings. Occasional lifting of office materials, files, or heavy office furniture and/or equipment (e.g., fireproof file cabinets) which could weigh 100 pounds or more. Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations.
