Responsibilities
Proactively reviews physician orders for accuracy and appropriateness. Seeks clarification for any discrepancies prior to beginning exam and ensures an accurate written order is included in the patient’s medical record. Confirms patients are prepped according to exam protocol prior to appointment date.
Handles, calibrates, prepares and administers radioactive materials to patients in accordance with accepted safety procedures to safeguard against overexposure to radiation for patients, staff, visitors, and self.
Provides both written and verbal patient education across all demographics, reviewing and documenting relevant medical history and screening for contraindications, including pregnancy. Obtains informed consent as delegated by the interpreting physician and in accordance with written policy.
Observes and monitors patient condition and notifies appropriate personnel of any significant changes or incidents.
Selects equipment protocol, positions patient, and modifies factors as necessary to display desired anatomy.
Performs imaging for surgical and therapeutic treatments. (i.e. Lymphoscintigraphy, Y90 embolization, )
Obtains scans, processes images, and reviews test results with licensed physician to determine if additional images are
Enters patient charges into computer
Calibrates instruments daily and takes radioactivity readings to check for possible
Follows guidelines established by the Georgia Department of Natural
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in flexible staffing to provide uninterrupted patient care and, where applicable, provides on-call coverage as scheduled.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program AND Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with the ARRT or NMTCB
OR
meets the eligibility requirements for certification. Certification MUST be achieved within 6 months of hire/transfer.
OR
Associate’s Degree or higher AND Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist with the ARRT or NMTCB
Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
