STRATEGIC BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION

The Trade Control group provides control services to CIBC’s businesses through effective governance and control processes for all Derivatives, Fixed Income, and Cash Equity products in the North America, UK/EU, and Asia regions.  Individuals are required to monitor and verify trade flows through various source systems in a timely and precise manner in order to ensure accuracy for downstream stakeholders as per Trade Control Policies & Procedures.

JOB PURPOSE 

As an associate within Trade Control, you will be accountable for providing day-to-day support to Global Markets Trading and Sales teams. The role will act as a liaison between the front office and downstream teams to ensure all trade related issues are addressed and resolved. This may consist of managing trade & system related issues, onboarding new systems & platforms, and working with technology teams to implement new automations.

We are seeking a dynamic experienced individual to help with our expansion in Singapore. This individual will also be expect to help support the Asia Pacific region and work closely with our Trade control teams in Hong Kong, London and Toronto. You must also be able to work independently in a fast paced environment and be confident dealing with clients and internal stakeholders.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Collaboration – You'll represent Trade Control and will be the primary point of contact for all internal departments, traders, and marketers for all trade control related matters. You will collaborate with senior leadership to identify business needs and create tailored solutions to support change initiatives.

  • Trade Verification - Verify all trade details against blotters, broker confirms, external trading platforms, trade tickets and trader’s files, in accordance with accepted daily control procedures designed to detect errors and omissions in trade capture.

  • Reporting - Running daily reports associated with the Trade Control group as part of the groups control processes.

  • Reconciliation - Reconcile trades between internal and external systems.

  • Business Acumen - Must maintain a high level of knowledge of business products while partnering with peers to deliver timely results for numerous stakeholders.

  • Fast Paced - Work within a challenging, fast paced environment where time pressures demand a rapid response to requests from the trading floor. Work in a dynamic team environment where sharing of skills and knowledge is critical.

  • Record keeping - Organized approach to record keeping of daily controls for audit purposes.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • You have undergraduate university degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Commerce, or Accounting.

  • You have minimum of 4 years of experience working in Financial Services or relevant experience. Prior experience working with derivatives fixed income, cash equity products. Knowledge in structured notes would be an asset in this role along with operational and settlement practices of bonds, repos, stocks, swaps, options, futures, and foreign exchange.

  • You have the technical knowledge. You have intermediate Excel skills, and can reconcile large datasets from different sources. Experience working with MarkitWire, Bloomberg, Wall Street, ADP, CTM,  DTC is an asset

  • You're motivated by collective success. You have a strong understanding of the division of major departments in a bank and the flow of information. You have a sense of urgency when responding to queries regarding trade details and discrepancies.

  • Your influence makes a difference. You're a strong communicator and can easily communicate with the back office, investigations officers, traders, marketers and middle office with regards to trade bookings and amendments.
