As a Distinguished Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native AI-powered systems, ensuring architectural integrity and operational excellence. About the team:
The Marketplace Engineering team at Walmart Global Tech drives global commerce by building advanced tools for storefront management, pricing, and inventory control. Supporting thousands of sellers worldwide, the team develops reliable, intelligent systems integrating real-time data and partner platforms to ensure seamless order experiences. Focused on scalable, cloud-native architectures, the team collaborates across functions to align technology with business goals. They emphasize continuous improvement, operational excellence, and delivering exceptional customer experiences on a global scale through innovation, technical expertise, and strategic execution.
What you'll do:
  • Lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native AI-powered software systems, ensuring architectural integrity and reliability.
  • Translate domain-level strategies into system-level implementations, aligning engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Drive operational excellence through technical guidance, code reviews, and strategic architectural decisions.
  • Champion DevOps and CI/CD practices to ensure resilient, observable, and performant services.
  • Mentor engineers to foster innovation, high standards, and continuous learning across teams.
  • Identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks, automating processes to improve system efficiency.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in designing and developing scalable, cloud-native software systems with AI integration.
  • Strong technical leadership skills, including architectural decision-making and system-level execution.
  • Experience driving operational excellence through DevOps, CI/CD, and incident management practices.
  • Ability to coach and mentor engineers, fostering continuous learning and high-quality delivery.
  • Proficiency in problem solving, debugging, and ensuring software reliability and security.

The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00 - $312,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
