Description
The Department of Psychology at Point Park University is seeking Part-time Faculty candidates to teach graduate courses in Spring 2027 (01/19/27-05/07/27). Part-time faculty should be willing to support the mission and vision of the Department of Psychology and PsyD Program in Clinical Psychology.
1. Program Development, Evaluation, & Assessment (Psych 734/ Thursdays 9:40-12:40)
This course assists students in developing practical skills for the creation and implementation of programs related to community building, health initiatives/services, and non-profit organizations. Students learn to identify basic tools for strategic planning for program development, evaluation and assessment of programs, and assessment of programs to solve common organizational problems.
2. Quantitative Research Methods (Psyc 742, Wednesdays 9:40-12:40)
This course will explore the historical, philosophical, and theoretical foundations of quantitative research and proceed to explore various experimental designs and associated statistics. This course provides an overview of statistics used in quantitative psychological research as well as practice in conducting various statistical tests (i.e., t-tests and ANOVAs). Content of the course will include instruction on frequency of distributions and percentiles, measures of central tendency, measures of variability, z-scores and the normal curve model, the correlation coefficient, linear regression, statistics for hypothesis test, and other relevant subject matter. Proficiency in information literacy and research will be expected. Understanding of quantitative measures and results within peer-reviewed journals will be stressed. APA ethical guidelines for using human participants will be reviewed. Quantitative lab projects will provide students with opportunities to apply concepts to actual data.
Desired Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Psychology or related field
- Experience in clinical and/or community programs
- Experience teaching related courses at the college level
Part-time Faculty rates are per the collective bargaining agreement.
