Security Officer

Location: Glenwood Springs, CO 81601
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $26.50 per hour
Schedule: Evening Shift | 7:30 PM - 3:30 AM
Coverage: Seven days per week currently available
 

Position Summary

Citadel Security USA is looking for a reliable Unarmed Security Officer to provide evening security coverage aboard assigned vehicles and at designated passenger areas in Glenwood Springs.

This position requires a strong balance of observation, public interaction, and professional security practices. Officers will interact regularly with passengers and personnel while monitoring activity, identifying potential concerns, and responding appropriately when situations require attention.

The ideal candidate is approachable without losing situational awareness, communicates clearly, and can remain composed when handling unfamiliar or challenging circumstances.
 

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Field Coverage

• Maintain a professional and visible security presence during assigned evening operations.
• Conduct routine foot patrols of designated passenger areas and loading locations.
• Observe activity around boarding areas and identify potential safety or security concerns.
• Monitor passenger activity and help support an orderly environment.
• Remain attentive to conditions that may affect the safety of passengers, personnel, or visitors.
• Communicate operational or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
   

Incident Awareness & Response

• Recognize suspicious behavior, disturbances, hazards, and other unusual conditions.
• Respond to situations according to established company procedures and assignment instructions.
• Use calm, respectful communication when addressing disagreements or disruptive behavior.
• Apply appropriate verbal de-escalation techniques when circumstances call for them.
• Request assistance from supervisors or emergency responders when an incident exceeds the scope of the position.
• Maintain a calm and professional presence during emergencies or unexpected events.
   

Public Assistance

• Greet and assist members of the public in a courteous and professional manner.
• Provide general directions or information when requested.
• Communicate respectfully with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances.
• Support assigned personnel by communicating concerns that may affect safe and orderly operations.
• Balance customer assistance with established security responsibilities.
   

Reports & Communication

• Complete accurate daily activity reports and incident reports.
• Document significant observations, unusual activity, policy concerns, and security-related events.
• Provide timely information to supervisors regarding incidents or developing concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling operational or security-related information.
• Follow company procedures, assignment instructions, and reporting standards.
   

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a public-facing environment.
• Professional appearance and dependable work habits.
• Comfortable working independently during evening and overnight hours.
• Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
• Ability to remain attentive and aware of surroundings throughout the shift.
• Successful completion of required background screening and pre-employment requirements.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to consistently work the assigned evening schedule.
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous security or public-facing customer service experience.
• Experience in transportation operations, hospitality, public safety, or similar environments.
• Experience working around large numbers of people.
• Strong observational and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Experience preparing activity logs, incident reports, or other written documentation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals during difficult or stressful situations.
• Experience working independently while following established procedures.
