Private Equity Analyst Program – Investment Team (Capital Partnerships)

Job Description
 

The Analyst Program is a two-year full-time employment program designed for early-career professionals who are motivated to build a long-term career in private equity. The program begins with a three-week tailored training module and continues with hands-on learning, close collaboration with experienced investment professionals, and structured on-the-job development. Participants who perform strongly may have the opportunity to continue their career at LGT Capital Partners as an Associate.

 

The position is available in either Switzerland near Zurich or London. The anticipated start date is 1 July 2027.

 

As part of the Capital Partnerships Investment Management Team, you will gain broad exposure across both direct private equity co-investments and primary fund investments, providing a distinctive and supportive platform for candidates who want to build a career in private equity.

 

In co-investments, you will evaluate direct investment opportunities across industries, business models, and geographies, working alongside experienced colleagues and leading global private equity buyout sponsors. In manager selection, you will contribute to the assessment of private equity fund managers globally, drawing on LGT Capital Partners’ more than 25-year track record, deep regional expertise across Europe, the US, and Asia, and annual primary commitments of more than USD 5 billion.

 

ESG considerations are embedded in the investment process and form part of both company-level and manager-level assessments. Through the program, you will also gain exposure to how ESG credentials, impact considerations, and long-term sustainability factors are evaluated in private equity investing.

 

In this role, you will work across the full investment lifecycle and develop core private equity skills through a broad range of responsibilities, including:

• Conduct extensive financial, market and business due diligence;
• Prepare investment memoranda and research materials, including detailed financial models and valuation analyses;
• Contribute to investment committee and team discussions;
• Support project management from initial screening through to final completion, including legal negotiations;
• Assess portfolio companies using quantitative modelling and comparable company analysis, using both public and private data;
• Benchmark private equity fund managers; Monitor the performance of existing portfolio and investments;
• Proactively identify attractive new investment opportunities;
• Prepare market research and client-facing analyses.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with:

• strong academic credentials from a leading university at Bachelor or Master level in business, economics, finance, accounting or other quantitative degrees;
• prior internship experience in finance, investment banking, PE, or consulting is of advantage;
• a solid understanding of financial statements and fundamental business analysis;
• motivation to develop expertise in private equity and investment analysis;
• curiosity about both quantitative and qualitative assessment of private equity funds and portfolio companies;
• excellent written and spoken English, with additional languages is a plus;
• and a collaborative, curious, organized, and entrepreneurial mindset.
