Commercial Credit Officer

Savers Bank is looking for a Commercial Credit Officer to play a key role in our commercial lending process. You’ll analyze new requests and annual reviews, help transactions move from application to closing, and give lending partners and decision-makers the insight they need to make sound decisions.

This role is for someone who enjoys rigorous analysis, takes ownership of deadlines, and works well with lenders, colleagues, and customers.

What you’ll do

• Analyze borrower and guarantor financial statements, cash flow, repayment capacity, collateral, and other information to assess commercial credit risk.
• Prepare clear, well-supported credit analyses for new transactions and annual reviews.
• Evaluate industry information and external reports, identify concerns, and communicate findings to lending and credit partners.
• Work with the Credit Administrator to keep transactions moving, anticipate missing information or potential delays, and help coordinate Credit Committee activity.
• Maintain accurate loan and customer records and support internal, board, and regulatory reporting.
• Partner with other departments to resolve commercial customer and transaction needs.
• Support the preparation and execution of credit and legal documentation.
• Help develop procedures, improve workflows, and support the tools and vendors used by the commercial credit team.
• Provide guidance to junior credit analysts and, when needed, support the Commercial Credit Manager or assist with workout matters.
• Participate in community service opportunities that support Savers Bank’s local mission.

Requirements

What you’ll bring

• At least five years of experience in commercial lending or financial-services support, with substantial exposure to commercial credit analysis.
• The ability to assess financial information, identify risk, and present a clear, defensible conclusion.
• Experience with commercial loan documentation, financial spreading tools, and credit tracking systems.
• Strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex findings to different audiences.
• Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage several transactions and deadlines at once.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook, and the ability to learn Bank systems.
• A bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, accounting, or business administration. Relevant commercial lending or credit training is a plus.

Familiarity with commercial lending compliance and reporting requirements, including CRA, Regulation B, HMDA, and UCC filings, is valuable. Core banking system experience is also an advantage.

This position is based at our Operations Center in Southbridge, Massachusetts, and requires daily on-site attendance.
