Information and Operations Technology (IT/OT) Lead

Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for a seasoned Manufacturing Information and Operations Technology (IT/OT) Lead to provide technical leadership for the integration, modernization, and sustainment of manufacturing technology supporting the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP).  The qualified candidate will lead efforts to integrate MES and enterprise IT systems with manufacturing equipment, industrial control systems, intelligent sensors, automation, and other operational technology across BEP’s manufacturing environment.The candidate will help BEP introduce next-generation manufacturing capabilities, IoT, automation, and data and analytics, while maintaining secure, reliable, and highly available production operations.  The position requires strong knowledge of IT/OT architecture and integration, industrial systems, and manufacturing operations, along with the ability to translate business and production requirements into practical technical solutions.

 

Location: This is a hybrid position, with the expectation to work on-site 3 days per week in Washington, DCTravel: This position will require periodic support at the Fort Worth, TX location as required by the customer.

 

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for BEP manufacturing IT/OT integration and modernization initiatives.
• Develop and maintain IT/OT integration architectures showing how ERP, MES, SCADA, PLCs, equipment, sensors, and related systems interconnect.
• Develop strategies and data flows supporting real-time manufacturing operations, analytics, and enterprise decision-making.
• Lead the integration of new and legacy manufacturing equipment and control systems with MES and enterprise IT environments.
• Develop standardized approaches for onboarding new machines and equipment using appropriate industrial communication standards and protocols.
• Support BEP’s planned introduction of new presses and manufacturing technologies by assessing integration, interoperability, commissioning, validation, and operational readiness requirements.
• Develop and execute roadmaps for advanced automation, robotics, PLC integration, and automated workflows.
• Define and support IoT device onboarding, device management, monitoring, updating, and edge-computing capabilities.
• Coordinate with MES, Oracle EBS/OCI, data/AI, Maximo, network, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure end-to-end integration.
• Support manufacturing data analytics and AI/ML use cases such as predictive maintenance, quality control, process optimization, downtime analysis, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness.
• Identify and resolve complex IT/OT integration issues, including interface failures, interoperability problems, performance constraints, and production-impacting technical issues.
• Ensure IT/OT solutions address availability, resiliency, performance, maintainability, safety, cybersecurity, and operational continuity requirements.
• Develop and maintain system design documents, configuration documentation, SOPs, integration specifications, runbooks, and other technical artifacts.
• Support testing, UAT, commissioning, validation, production deployment, and post-implementation verification of manufacturing technology solutions.
• Work within SAFe Agile delivery teams to translate manufacturing and technical requirements into Epics, Features, Stories, and deliverable increments.
• Provide technical recommendations to BEP leadership concerning manufacturing technology, modernization priorities, automation, integration, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Support knowledge transfer and training for operators, engineers, IT personnel, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust level clearance
• Bachelors Degree and 8 years professional experience, or an Associates Degree and 10 years professional experience, or a High School Diploma/ equivalent and 12 years professional  experience
• Minimum 8 years of demonstrated experience in manufacturing IT, operational technology (OT), industrial automation, industrial control systems, systems integration, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing IT/OT architectures in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Hands-on experience integrating manufacturing systems and equipment with enterprise IT systems, including MES and/or ERP platforms.
• Experience with industrial control technologies such as SCADA, PLCs, industrial networks, sensors, or related automation systems.
• Experience developing enterprise or plant-level IT/OT integration architectures, data flows, interface specifications, and technical integration plans.
• Experience supporting the full system lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, design, development/configuration, testing, commissioning, deployment, operations, and maintenance.
• Experience troubleshooting complex IT/OT integration and production issues while minimizing manufacturing downtime.
• Experience with cybersecurity considerations for industrial control systems and manufacturing environments.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary technical teams, business stakeholders, engineers, operators, developers, and cybersecurity personnel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to Government leadership and manufacturing stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience supporting MES environments integrated with Oracle E-Business Suite or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Experience with robotics, automated material handling, automated workflows, or advanced manufacturing automation.
• Experience with IoT platforms, intelligent sensors/actors, edge computing, and real-time manufacturing data collection.
• Experience integrating new production equipment into existing manufacturing systems, including interoperability testing, commissioning, and validation.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Azure, or AWS in support of manufacturing/IT solutions.
• Prior experience supporting the U.S. Treasury Department, BEP, or other Federal manufacturing environments.
• Active Federal Public Trust or other applicable security clearance.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
