As the Associate Director, DevOps, you will drive the engineering strategy and spearhead the modernization of core technologies in a fast-paced banking environment. You will lead multiple engineering functions, manage senior leaders, oversee architectural decisions, and ensure operational excellence across all platforms. Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the overall engineering strategy, aligning technology initiatives with business goals and product roadmap.
• Lead and develop multiple engineering functions, including DevOps, Mobile Platform Engineering, and QA/Testing, fostering a high-performance, accountable, and delivery-focused culture.
• Directly manage senior leaders, including the Head of DevOps, ensuring strong alignment across all engineering domains.
• Drive the modernization of legacy systems and codebases, defining and executing a migration strategy to scalable, maintainable, cloud-native, and microservices-based architectures.
• Lead the adoption and evolution of open infrastructure technologies, with a focus on OpenStack and related ecosystem tools.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, governance frameworks, and best practices across all teams.
• Own and improve the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including CI/CD, automated testing, release management, and deployment strategies such as blue-green and canary deployments.
• Champion engineering excellence through coding standards, rigorous code reviews, and architectural best practices.
• Drive the adoption of microservices architecture and domain-driven design principles where appropriate.
• Ensure systems are designed for high scalability and performance to support increasing workloads and traffic.
• Define and implement strategies for horizontal and vertical scaling, load balancing, and performance optimization.
• Drive the integration and adoption of AI-powered development tools such as Copilot, Claude, and Cursor.
• Partner closely with DevOps teams to ensure scalable, reliable, and automated infrastructure.
• Oversee architectural decisions related to distributed systems and microservices environments.
• Define and track key engineering metrics, including deployment frequency, lead time, mean time to recovery (MTTR), and change failure rate.
• Ensure strong collaboration between engineering, product, QA, and DevOps teams.
• Lead the hiring, mentoring, and development of engineering managers and senior engineers across all technical domains.
• Manage engineering capacity, planning, and prioritization across multiple teams and functions.
• Ensure that security, compliance, and reliability are embedded into engineering processes.

Requirements and Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience in software engineering, including substantial leadership experience.
• Proven track record in senior engineering leadership roles managing multiple functions such as DevOps, QA, Mobile, and Platform teams.
• Strong experience in the modernization and migration of legacy systems.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, scalability, and microservices architecture.
• Extensive experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Comprehensive understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and deployment approaches.
• Demonstrated experience implementing engineering standards and governance.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, including but not limited to Copilot, Claude, and Cursor.
• Strong technical proficiency in modern programming languages such as C#, .NET, Python, Go, or Java.
• Experience with OpenStack and open-source infrastructure ecosystems.
• Thorough knowledge of cloud platforms and infrastructure concepts.
• In-depth knowledge of software engineering and QA best practices.
• Proven ability to scale engineering teams and technical systems.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
• Good understanding of reliability engineering principles, including SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.
• Experience with DevSecOps practices and modern security approaches.
• Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
• Strong systems thinking skills and the ability to simplify complex technical environments.
• Excellent communication abilities and the capacity to influence engineering culture and practices.
• Experience working in fast-paced, high-scale environments.
• Experience in cost optimization is advantageous.
