Associate Director, Strategic Transactions - Sydney - Hybrid Working
About the Opportunity
The Life Strategic Transactions team forms part of Challenger Investments division and is responsible for executing and implementing complex transactions across Challenger's investment and insurance businesses. This includes domestic and offshore reinsurance transactions, investment mandates, funding initiatives and cross-border structures
We're looking to add an Associate Director to support a growing pipeline of work across these areas, working alongside senior stakeholders to structure, negotiate and implement transactions while ensuring appropriate governance, approvals and operating models are in place.
The role offers broad exposure across Challenger's Investments and Insurance businesses and will involve working closely with Investment teams, Finance, ALM, Risk, Operations, Legal and external counterparties to deliver commercially effective and well-governed outcomes.
What you'll be doing
Key aspects of the role include:
Supporting the execution and implementation of strategic transaction opportunities across Challenger's investment and insurance businesses
Ensuring transactions are implemented in a commercially appropriate, efficient and risk-aware manner
Working on domestic and offshore reinsurance transactions, funding initiatives and institutional solutions
Implementing investment mandates across private assets, fixed income, equities, alternatives and life-risk strategies
Structuring transaction solutions and supporting commercial and contractual negotiations
Coordinating approvals, governance processes and transaction obligations
Supporting the onboarding of investment managers, mandates and associated operating structures
About You
You’ll bring experience executing complex transactions in a sophisticated financial services environment, from initial structuring and negotiation through to implementation. Comfortable working through ambiguity, you can coordinate a broad range of stakeholders and deliver commercially effective outcomes within appropriate governance and risk frameworks.

Your experience may have been gained in insurance or reinsurance, investment banking or capital markets, corporate transactions or M&A, financial services consulting or transaction advisory, or in an actuarial, investment or broader financial services organisation with significant transaction exposure.

Strong commercial negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Knowledge of financial markets and investment products
Experience working within governance frameworks, approval processes and regulated environments
Exposure to cross-border transactions or operating structures
