The job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Consultant – Unified Operations Center (UOC) to lead the design, implementation, and delivery of enterprise-scale Industrial Automation and Digital Transformation solutions using the AVEVA portfolio.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in AVEVA System Platform, Unified Operations Center (UOC), industrial system architectures, SCADA/HMI solutions, enterprise integration, and OT-IT convergence. The role involves designing scalable, secure, and high-availability solutions while providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle—from solution architecture and engineering to testing, commissioning, and production support.

As a trusted technical advisor, the Senior Consultant will collaborate closely with customers, project managers, solution architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver robust and innovative industrial solutions across sectors such as Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Manufacturing, Mining, Utilities, Water, and Power. The successful candidate will also mentor junior engineers, drive technical excellence, and ensure adherence to industry best practices and project delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Architecture

• Design, develop, and implement scalable, secure, and high-availability solutions using AVEVA System Platform.
• Prepare and maintain High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), and solution architecture documents.

• Define and review deployment architectures for the complete AVEVA ecosystem, including:
  • Galaxy Repository
  • Application Object Servers
  • AVEVA Historian
  • Communication Drivers
  • AVEVA OMI
  • Alarm Servers
  • Application Servers
  • License Manager and Identity Manager (where applicable)
• Design and implement High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and redundancy strategies to ensure business continuity.
• Perform infrastructure sizing, capacity planning, and performance optimization for enterprise-scale deployments.
• Define system architecture, network topology, security, and communication strategies in accordance with customer and industry standards.
• Ensure solution designs adhere to AVEVA best practices, cybersecurity guidelines, and project-specific performance and availability requirements.

Essential requirements

Non-Technical:

• Excellent written, verbal, technical, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel as required for customer workshops, requirements gathering, design discussions, commissioning, and project delivery.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.

Technical

• 8–10 years of hands-on experience in designing and implementing industrial automation solutions using AVEVA technologies.
• Extensive expertise in the AVEVA product suite, including System Platform, OMI, Historian, Communication Drivers, Reports, Application Server, License Manager, and Identity Manager.
• Strong experience in architecting and designing enterprise-scale applications based on AVEVA System Platform.
• Proficient in developing high-performance HMI screens, graphics, dashboards, and visualizations using ArchestrA Graphics, AVEVA OMI, and InTouch.
• Proven experience in executing Unified Operations Center (UOC)\AVEVA Operations Control projects.
• Strong expertise in AVEVA System Platform object modeling, template development, and standardization (templatization).
• Hands-on experience in AVEVA System Platform I/O mapping and device integration.
• Strong programming skills in AVEVA System Platform scripting, including integration with .NET Framework functions.
• Solid experience with industrial communication protocols, particularly OPC DA and OPC UA.
• Working knowledge of MQTT protocol and its implementation in industrial automation solutions.
• Experience in configuring and managing AVEVA System Platform redundancy, including failover scenarios.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, with experience in reading from and writing to databases through AVEVA System Platform.
• Experience integrating RESTful Web APIs and other web services with AVEVA System Platform applications.
• Experience integrating enterprise IT applications such as SAP, IBM Maximo, and other business systems with AVEVA System Platform.
• Working knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is an added advantage.
• Strong experience in preparing and executing Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) plans and procedures.
• Hands-on experience in commissioning, FAT, SAT, and production deployment activities.
• Proven ability to independently deliver complete AVEVA System Platform applications from requirements gathering through design, development, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Experience with AVEVA CONNECT is desirable.
• Strong understanding of system performance optimization, including distributed architectures, redundancy and failover strategies, infrastructure sizing, load balancing, scalability, and client/server performance tuning.

Hybrid working

We work in a hybrid way at AVEVA. Most roles are based at a local AVEVA office, with an expectation of being on-site 50% of your working hours to support collaboration and connection. Some positions are fully office-based depending on the nature of the work, and certain roles that support specific customers or markets may be remote.
