Description
Perform restoration procedures on all body parts of automotive vehicles including trucks, trolleys and buses; install glass, paint and perform a variety of other restoration activities and perform a variety of other related activities in support of the maintenance and restoration of City vehicles.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

High school diploma or GED plus a two (2) year technical certificate or training in automotive repair; and
Two (2) years of vehicle restoration experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of an AC recovery and CNG fuel certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.Environmental:
Shop environment; working within confined spaces; with exposure to excessive noise, dust and solvents.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing, sitting kneeling and repeated bending for prolonged periods of time.

SSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to thefunctions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of thejob with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Restore all body parts of automotive vehicles including trucks, paratransit and buses.
- Examine damaged vehicles and estimate cost of repairs.
- Remove excessively damaged body parts including fenders, windows, panels and grills; install and paint new replacement parts.
- Straighten bent vehicle frames, repair body dents and holes, and remove old paint from specified area using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Prepare for an paint vehicles; cover areas not intended for paint with masking tape; mix a variety of paints to achieve desired color; apply vehicle body fillers and primers as appropriate; spray paint vehicles in appropriate manner.
- Repair and refurbish vehicle interior including seat upholstery, flooring and interior panels.
- Fabricate metal panels as necessary; perform both metal and plastic welding as necessary.
- May perform minor electrical work when appropriate.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
