Department Overview
The Ad & Media Company is in the expansion phase of its business.
Our Corporate Planning Department works daily with the management team led by the Company President to achieve this growth.
Our primary responsibilities include formulating, executing, and managing the progress of corporate strategies.
Through market and competitor analysis, deep insights into market and internal environments, and hypothesis development, we aim to build an optimal business portfolio and support management to maximize each business’s performance, thereby contributing to the company’s growth.
This is a position that offers close proximity to management, allowing deep involvement in business decision-making through daily operations.

Position Details
You will drive business growth through a wide range of tasks to achieve business strategy goals.
・Formulating growth strategies and supporting business planning: We design the future of your business through budget planning and portfolio management. *Budget planning is conducted in collaboration with our sister organization, the Management Accounting Team, as one unified team.
・Management analysis and recommendations: We organize and analyze key management issues, then produce outputs and proposals to enable Rakuten Group's top management to report and engage in meaningful dialogue as an advertising and media company.
・Supporting strategy execution: We ensure strategies are effectively implemented by coordinating business strategies, collaborating with departments under our purview, and monitoring progress.
・Managing meetings and committees: We prepare critical materials for regular reporting meetings with executives and facilitate smooth management communication.
・Global collaboration: We conduct research and analysis on overseas markets to explore business expansion opportunities and stay abreast of global trends.
・AI-driven operational efficiency: We incorporate Rakuten Group's company-wide AI-nization initiative into our work, pursuing efficient and highly accurate outputs.
Work Environment
The business planning team consists of four members, including the manager, and works closely with the sister organization, the management accounting team (five members including the manager, currently expanding), to tackle various management agendas as "one team."
The team is composed of mid-career hires who joined Rakuten after gaining diverse experiences.
・Diverse backgrounds: Our team brings together members with varied careers, primarily from corporate backgrounds, as well as consultants, former government officials, and holders of overseas MBAs. The team is mainly composed of mid-career hires, creating an environment where different perspectives and experiences are leveraged.
・Global team: The team includes two foreign nationals, allowing us to work in a culturally diverse setting. In addition, there are two members with experience living abroad.
・Collaborative structure: Strategic planning and financial management work closely together, combining their respective expertise to cooperate toward the shared goal of the company's sustainable growth. There are numerous opportunities to cross-pollinate specialized areas, expanding individual skills and broadening thinking horizons.
Mandatory Qualifications:
・Experience in business planning or similar strategic departments, and experience managing large-scale projects involving multiple departments and stakeholders or equivalent experience
・Ability to dynamically manage priorities including subordinate team members
・Experience in driving discussions while communicating effectively with executive officers and division heads
・Initiative to lead toward goals while engaging stakeholders in uncertain situations
・Experience utilizing high-level logical explanation and structured organization skills in work
・Extensive output experience (including PowerPoint material creation, able to document discussion content at a high level and speed)
Intermediate Excel skills (ability to use intermediate-level functions to produce outputs with reasonable accuracy)
・Experience in numerical management based on strategy and business plans
・Basic understanding of P/L (Profit and Loss) statements
・Japanese: Native-level proficiency
